Internet on PDA using USCellular network and 6255i

This seems like the right crowd to ask about the capabilities of the US Cellular network so here it goes.

My two years are up and I'm going to get a new phone but would really like to be able to get Internet access on my Dell PDA (hopefully using Bluetooth). If I sign up for the EasyEdge service can I do this? What phone would work the best (either bluetooth or cable)?

I asked the rep in my local US Cellular store and she just looked at me odd and said she would have to check with someone else and had no clue what I was talking about.

Thanks in advance -

J

Tethering is not supported, but I've "heard of it working."

No, you cannot get internet service through Easyedge for your PDA. US Cellular offers internet service through an air card for business customers only. It is unknown if this will change in time.

What is your definition of "cannot get?" If you mean that it is not technically possible with the way that U.S. Cellular has their network set up, you are mistaken. If you mean that they don't market it that way and probably don't want it to be used in that manner, then you are absolutely correct.

Also, I thought they opened up the AirCards to consumers, but they still need to be bought through direct sales.

You can get the card through uscellular, consumer or business. You can also link up t hrough your cell phone. Of course we would rather you buy the card but we all know that with the right program and cable or bluetooth anything is possible. Basically everybody that offers cell service offers a way to get pda's, laptops, whatever online. Just from my experiences with computers and such.

Well, I'm going to give it a try. I'm going to try the Nokia 6255i and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies-
