If you go over to an AT&T phone and plan, you will not be charged an ETF as long as you do it in the store.

Nope. If you're 1 month into contract and port out, that'll be $460 dollars, thank you very much! But if you're going to port out or cancel after a month, you probably should have thought your purchase through a little better. Flip side, if you have one month left and leave, it's only 20 bucks vs. a flat $175 or whatever.
