WCDMA Phones
I would like to purchase the V3maxx when it becomes available from whatever carrier (cing or tmob) 😁 What I'd like to know is will I be able to use it on our network?

It MUST run the 850 band (quad band phones cover this)
& it MUST be unlocked. (You can now legally unlock the phone w/ or w/o the carrier's help but that often tends to be a hassle)
Cingular & T-Mobile lock all of their phones, but they DO run on GSM.
You also have to realize that Cingular flashes their phones w/ their own software & this has shown to reduce the reliability of some of their phones (like the Razr).
Not all phones will work to their full capability if they are from another carrier, IE. if you buy a Sidekick from T-Mobile, it's not going to work fully on CellularONE because of all of the T-Mobile software & T-Mobile functions.

To really clarify this whole debate, the answer is yes you should still be able to use your phone on the network, however, you won't be able to utilize the HSDPA technology if you use it on our network, meaning your PTT and broadband conference video calling won't work. Those WCDMA phones can still work on our 850 band but you just won't have your high-speed stuff in operation. How do I know, 'coz I've used my homie's LG CU500 from Cingular on our network before.

So, while you're correct... if the information they're listing is true... as a tri-band, it won't work on 850... unless they're putting those out, too.
