Is any GSM phone compatible w/ TracFone/Net10 simply by changing the SIM card, or is it proprietary?
😕 I read one response to a post here that seemed to indicate that TracFone (incl. Net10?) GSM phones weren't compatible/interchangeable with any GSM phone or service simply by switching the SIM card, contrary to what N1 Wireless (a GSM phone, SIM card & supplier & phone unlocker) indicated. I know full-well that TracFone/Net10 has a really bad rep for customer service (experienced it myself many times) but I still have time w/ them & I want a pre-paid phone service, don't like contracts. I had a Motorola V176 & it was a pretty good, simple phone, I'd replace it with another as I already have spare batteries & chargers for it, but as I need to replace it, I thought I'd ask... & I like the possibilities of being able to switch the SIM card & ...

i dont know if its any gsm phone or not but i know that the phones that they sale on ebay with the dual sims will work but not for 3g data unless it has wi-fi.

The MotoRazr2 V9x is a much nicer phone than any that Net10 offers, & they wouldn't support it even though it is a GSM phone (I couldn't get an answer from them until AFTER I purchased this phone, THANK YOU Net10!). I didn't have much choice. Net10 will only support the phones that they offer for sale through their service, & all of them are out-of-date & obsolete technology. This is something to remember when considering Net10 (a division of TracFone). As I commented earlier in another post, their Customer Service Sux the Big 10"! That is the reason I didn't want a locked phone from them. 👿 So I told them to take the remainder of my minutes & lube them really well... after the disaster w/ charging the wrong account, taking many months...
