I would like to get a pocket pc based phone with bluetooth and maybe even 802.11a/b comms facility. Anyone know if verizon is planning releasing something soon with this setup. I heard there may be phone (Daxian’s cu928?) might be offered by verizon - Any truth to this?

If not verizon, what other carriers have phones like this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

πŸ™‚ T-Mobile has the HP iPAQ h6315 Pocket PC. It does have bluetooth and it supports Wi-Fi access. πŸ˜‰

Both Samsung Pocket PC phones have SD/IO slots that can have a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi card inserted to give you that functionality

Yes, the "Daxian" phone you're talking about is the HTC Harrier. It will probably be branded by Audiovox when Verizon offers it. Daxian is just some random Chinese company that put their logo on it for the Chinese market - it's an HTC device.

The Harrier is just like the Blue Angel (MDA III, VPA III, xda IIs, etc.), except it's CDMA and it has EV-DO. 😎 It has Bluetooth, although unlike the GSM version, I don't think it will have Wi-Fi. (But with EV-DO, wi-fi is almost irrelevant anyway.)

Rich,

That's great. Do you know when verizon might offer this phone? I am currently with verizon, I debating on staying with verizon or dumping it and going to T-Mobile which offers a similar phone.

Release dates are always very hard to predict with Verizon. And really for any U.S. carrier, but especially Verizon.

I'm guessing that they'd like to have it out before the end of this year. But if the past is any indicator, that won't happen. I would guess Q1 2005 is more likely.

...but that's just a guess.

Sprint will also carry it, and they usually introduce a phone 3-6 months before Verizon releases their version of the same phone, so... πŸ™„
