2 Gig Card

Hey guys,

Does anyone know how many songs a 2 gig card can hold? Assume that every song is about 3 minutes long. Also, is there a way to compress the songs, to make the 2 gig card hold more than it can, if possible?

Thanks,
Eddy

Very roughly 500, and yes you can make them a lesser quality to fit more. But I can't stand listen to anything less then 192 kbps. You can really tell what is left out.

😳 really? I've always had mine at 128kbps and I've always been pretty happy. I gonna try some songs at 192kbps to see "what I've been missing" 😉

On a phone you won't notice a difference. On a computer or whatnot then there is.

I'm sorry, that's what I meant. I have iTunes set up at 128kbps. I am going to change that to 192kbps just to see the difference.

if you change your 128k files to 192k, nothing will happen because the extra data has already been lost by the first compression process

take a source like a CD and compress it to 192k and you'll see what's different

Yeah it depends on the listener. It depends on what type of music you are listening too and what your hearing range is I guess. But you do want to go straight from the CD to the new compression rate.

You can usually get about 1 minute per meg. I'd say roughly 2000 minutes of music... at 3 minutes that would equal 666 songs.
