RAZR Maxx and SLVR

My rep told me that Verizon wouldn't be getting these phones despite the fact that they're on the rebate form. I don't really care much as they'd probably be total crap anyway. Anybody have any follow up? Has anyone actually seen these phones or played with them at a demo or anything? Frankly, I'd be happier if Verizon didn't pick them up. Less angry customers with broken phones to deal with.

We should put it on pay-per-view. Let's throw in some Cingular reps too.

At the risk of stirring up trouble (I had a particular person annoyed yesterday because of me asking questions about the upcoming razr maxx)......is it that it's not coming to Verizon at all or just not as soon as Late February /Early March as we had expected?

I am due for a new phone...my Q is really annoying and I have my NE2 due. Should I wait or not????

Hard to say. We have conflicting rep reports. One Verizon representative is saying we're getting it, the other is saying we're not getting it. We're as in the dark as you are.

On another note, I wouldn't wait for either one of those phones anyway. Motorola makes total crap. Every model they've produced since the Startac has been awful. I wouldn't count on the new RAZR or SLVR being worthwhile. Save yourself the hassle and get a VX8600.

Well, I hate to disagree but I've had several motorolas and they were all good. I had one LG and it was not good. I suppose I ought give LG another try since I've heard so much about the 8600 but I already have all the chargers, etc. for the Motorola products. I have the Q which has been great , I've had the e815 Which was terrific, I even had the 720 which I had NO trouble with (although I know people that did). My brother has the Razr V3M and has no problem with it whatsoever! I even questioned him about the battery life and he has had no trouble at all . Hmmm...what to do?? I really thought the MAXX was going to be the answer for me. Sigh...

T720 had charger issues, as did every model with that charging port.

The E815 was awful. I went through 4 of those phones in a year before I gave up and bought a VX8600. It freezes up and needs to be power cycled constantly. The Q has been coming into my store with problems. We had one guy with a $4000 bill because of a glitch in his Q. The RAZRs are awful, although I have to admit that the V3m is doing better than the V3c.

LG has released a few bad phones. I guess I'd be curious which model you had. Overall, LG is a much better manufacturer than Motorola. For Verizon anyway...

Well, I had the 6100 . It was a good phone except for one thing. When I used a headset (wired) , every few seconds I would get a beep similar to a hearing test. Nothing helped. When I brought it in to Verizon, of course they did not hear anything because it only happened with the headset and they did not try it that way. I am just afraid that that is just common with LG's.

I haven't heard that complaint before. I'm have a bluetooth headset for my VX8600, and I haven't experienced that problem. It's the best phone I've ever had. The speakerphone in it sucks, but I don't use the speakerphone any more. That's why I bought the headset. Problem solved.

To people who hate MOTO, MOTO-Hating is almost a religion. Moto has had their share of dogs, but the E-815 may be the best phone Verizon ever offered. Give credit where credit is due.

I never rely on Phonescoop reviews of MOTO products because there are so many people who will never say anything positive about Motorola under any circumstances.

You know what? I loved the E815 too...until I bought one. Like I said, I went through 4 of them in a year. All exchanged with manufacturer's defects (although none of them were the charging port which was the most common problem). The phone power cycles 5 times a day. The reception is ok, but if I'm going to get a phone for reception, it will be a tri-mode phone. Before my E815, I had an LG VX4400. I never had a problem with it. I've had my LG VX8600 since they day it came out. I've never had a problem with it either. I'm not saying that LG is perfect. They had issues with their LG VX7000 equivalent charging ports, but nothing near as bad as the 2 prong Motorola port.

Motorola has only had one phone that worked well all the tim...

The RAZR V3c and V3m are pretty bad phones, but the KRZR really takes the cake. The first week that they were out, my store sold 6 of them. The following week, 5 of those came back. One of them wouldn't even power on any more. The other 4 all had the delay issues that the RAZR develops. After that, my store refuses to sell the KRZR unless someone is really desperate for it. The only decent Motorola in recent memory is the V325, but even that one has had issues. It develops charger incompatibilities, and it also starts to have delay issues when the memory starts to get full.

You can love Motorola phones all you want. I don't care. My personal experience with them has had nothing good...except for the Startac.

I had no idea who that person was at all until I got a response from him and then people were writing to me telling me just what you are telling me!

Thanks for the opinion. I really think the Maxx looks nice. Maybe I'll just wait it out . At least I can go see the Maxx before I make a decision. The problem with the 8600 is that the speakerphone is completely worthless from what I heard and I use the speakerphone more than just occasionally. Thanks again for the opinion/answer and for clarifying other things! 😁

I played with the Razr MAXX at a meeting a couple weeks ago. It seemed like a nice problem. It's not slow like the Razr's. The MOTO rep said the software is written different on this one.

Verizon UI, yes. Not sure how customizable it is though. Didn't look in that much detail.

Who knows? Now that the U740 has Flash, it's obviously not limited to LGs anymore.

Its not going to have flash which is weak for such a killer screen.

I think the standard UI feels cheap. Almost feels like web browsing with Verizon's WAP Mobile Web.

I, thank god, will never have to deal with this UI because right now I have my 8910, which has Audiovox UI (which by no means is great but it's better than Verizon's) then I'm getting a PDA so I am happy.

We are getting both. I played with both during a kickoff a couple weeks ago. The moto rep said we'd be seeing the maxx first and gave a late feb/early march timeframe, but that is by no means a sure thing. both phones had the verizon ui. the maxx looked pretty freakin sweet, the outside display is ridiculous huge. so much so I don't know how they're going to make the battery last. didn't play with the slvr much, it'll be nice to have a stylish bar phone again, but thats about it.
