Windows Vista
My mom has an ohio account with VZW consiting of a voiceplan with data and 2 wireless aircards for her laptops. She recently purchased a new Sony Vioa(sp?) laptop with Vista and discovered that her packaged software with the aircard isn't compatable with Vista. She was told she would have to wait up to six months for an update or purchase a new $300 card with software to over come the issue. Is this accurate information? I know she was lied to before by the location she deals with (not suggesting all VZW locations are bad). Thanks in advance for any info.

Info posted to us what that no aircards and no tethering and no mobile kits are vista capable. None. That is posted to advise customers right off infocenter. (Yes, I can give that info out and the m&p says to do so...)

the V620 and V640 are the only ones listed as compatible with the new VZAM. I've gotten a bunch of emails in the past week saying that nothing is compatible, I just got a new one tonight that says the 620 and 640 work. of course I can't confirm as I don't have a laptop running vista or either card.

There is an unofficial list floating around of some cards that are working with vista, but I don't have it in front of me. Crazy pretty much paraphrased Verizon's official response and as far as I know, we don't have an exact date for when things will be officially compatable.

Hey Crapbag what card is she using? There are a lot of cards already compatable with Vista. You gotta remember Vista just came out less than a month ago and there are tons of software that is not yet able to run on it. VZW is working as fast as it can to update and test their S/W and drivers to work with it. The current cards that work are:
PC 5750, USB720, u640, u630, AirCard 595, HP and Lenovo embedded cards, and if you check the list at www.vzam.net most of the updates are coming this month and March. The dates listed are very conservative also. for example at first the u640/u620 card said late feb when a cust called me and asked me if it would work on Feb 3rd and then later that night the site was updated with the already released softw...

I am an employee for VZW Corp. and the information your mother was given was correct....if she is in contract right now she must pay full retail price foor the correct air card for her laptop which is 300 for the one needed for her Sony Vaio Computer. if you or your mother have any further questions, email me at [email protected]
