Will verizon ever offer early nights? It sucks that they do not I would love 7pm or even 6pm nights!! also a unlimited text plan would be perfect too!! I don't know what verizons problem with offering these incentives are.
...
let me give you the super cool cheerleader answer.
verizon is all powerful and all super cool they don't need to offer incentives they are the most profitable wireless company in America.
...
and they know it too! but not for long...
...
i 2nd that motion. But verizon has always been the most costly carrier out of all of them. I also don't like how their minutes plans go from 450 min to 900 min...no inbetween.
i have been with vzw for 5 years now and im thinking of switching to tmobile when my contract is up in may due to number of reasons but mostly due to 1. cost, 2. plans. Also their customer service has dropped off considerably recently not to mention they don't carry the blackberry 8800.

I live in a big city so all the carriers do a good job of providing service around here, I just want more for my money. At sprint you get the same 1400 min for 89.99 but nights starts at 7pm and you can pay five more bucks for 6pm nights, that would help me out allot! and unlimited text to any carrier for ten bucks!!! I could use that too! I like verizon but i feel im getting ripped off, and want more!
...
Rambo,
I agree with you....having said that, the only thing to do is to go to another carrier.
I live in Chicago and verizon is pretty good here. but i also know in chicago that are happpy with Cingular and Tmobile. I think Cingular is cheaper than tmobile but i think tmobile has better network.
what to do? where to go?

I guess so verizon has been good to me, but it looks like another carrier will meet my needs better. Hopefully verizon will offer something before my contract expires.
...
you kinda got that backwards, cingular is has more towards then t-mob, but t-mob plans are dirt cheap
...
I think that if service is the same then I would switch if I were you. No doubt about it.
...
and 8800 series is coming.... Read about the Blackberry Cyclone. It's a World phone, CDMA and GSM (europe), media player, GPS, etc... It was posted on Engadgetmobile.com but I don't think you will see it until end of 2nd or 3rd quarter.
Overall, I agree there needs to be a new incentive. AT&T's PR is giving 100 million in calling to Mobile, home, and Small businesses who have AT&T unity. Sure Verizon can do that with their landline, but... I don't live in an area with VZ landline service.
Cingy plans are the same and have rollover
Alltel has 10 people In
Sprint has earlier Nights
T-mob 5 people In
Verizon's It's the Network is getting old. Sure their numbers are good but Q4 comparison to Cingular might be the 1st of many to lose...

...
That & their Customer Service sucks!
...
Who's cs sucks?
If your referring to verizon, what do you have to back that up in comparison to numerous surveys that state the opposite?
...
Personal experience, but I guess I shouldn't blame the whole company on a handful of individuals.
...
Verizon has this arrogance about them they have an extremely successful business model and see know reason to change 👿 I too want 6 pm nights and unlimited text!
...
Vote with your feet. Leave. Why would Verizon change from Nine o'clock nights to six or seven when they are successfully competing with Cingular (which has Rollover AND a 7 p.m. option)? I said it before and it is plain and simple...money. If they chop two hours off their peak time then customers will be able to cut their rate plans down to cheap $39.99 plans which will hurt Verizon's profitability. Obviously, Verizon feels their network is worth paying for. The only way to send a message that it is not worth paying for is not to pay for it. So far...that message is not being sent.
...
Why would they change when they have the most adds? They don't have a reason to offer early nights and weekends at this point. If someone starts to make a move and take away a lot of their customers, then they will need to make changes to add incentives to keep/add more customers. Until then, I don't expect it to happen.
Another thing is that a huge chunk of the wireless customer base belongs with Verizon. By adding the unlimited calling to other Verizon customers, they're offering something that Alltel (for example) can't offer: unlimited calling to a huge customer base.
I wish they had earlier nights too, but it's not going to happen because of those reasons.
...
Perhaps this is the wrong way to go about the buisness. Why wait till you are losing customers to offer them a good deal? Wouldn't early night and weekends or an unlimited text package only increase the number of adds each quarter? If one person decides to leave a carrier for another how many do they take with them? It seems that on average each customer i deal with has 5 or so family members they convinced to switch just for mobile to mobile. Losing customers is a slippery slope which gains momentum fast. Look at sprint.
...
I really don't think it is the wrong way to go about business. If you think about it, all of these other companies are having to add incentives like early nights or top 5 or whatever in order to keep up in competition. As soon as Verizon notices customers slipping away, they can start adding these incentives that other companies already have. It's like having an Ace in its back pocket, ready to be played when it's needed.
...
it's all about profitablity, not so much # of additions. verizon probably could give the customers everything they ever wanted 7 nights free, unlimited texting $10, fav 5 or 10, and dominate the market, but there would be very little profitablity, and they would be so huge that their costs would go up, and we wouldn't see new technology like live tv and evdo rev a because they can't afford it. Then they would get to big and get Broken up like the old at&t. instead they just continue to maintain steady growth, at a high profitability. which is money they can use to develope new tech's! 🙂
...
What's the deal with Cingular and TMobile and Sprint not making as much profit, growth and retention as Verizon? When will they get on board?
(P.S. I know Cingular is getting close because of last quarter's net adds...)
...
🙂 I think early nites are the LAST thing verizon is worried about! I mean come on. Every 90 days we improve our network. Yes with Sprint you get early nites... but can you ever place a call on the heeps of junk they sell?!
Apparently not, maybe that is the reason I port people over all day long. March 1st alot of changes are being made to Verizons line up. So keep an eye out for that!
Now, I must get back to the masses who want to port over from the [new at&t, sprint, and t-mobile]
