So im just curious if anyone has seen the new rate guides? We just recieved them today and according to the maps, everywhere besides roaming is now in-network. This is a huge step for Verizon and will finally silence all the complaining that in-network only works in parts of the network.

I'm in the same market (cust care) as you, mcf - where did you find this info?

scan one and toss me a link? My VZW rep owes me a beer... (mmm, Grolsch...)

Bout TIME!! there shouldn't have been any reason for customers, or potential customers for that matter, to ever complain. Almost every other network offers M2M that covers the total network. I know for a fact ALLTEL does, Sprint does, I've heard ATT has a few issues about it, but they still don't have a separate map.
IMHO there are TOO many maps for VZW. There's a coverage map, there's a roaming map, and there's a separate map for their M2M calling. Why not keep it simple for everyone and make M2M free on the ENTIRE network so people aren't constantly guessing. That's why "no roaming" plans were instated....to keep people from constantly thinking "Can I make a call here without destroying my bank account?"
My 2 cents
...
Oops...sorry, I almost forgot...VZW's biggest competitor Cingular also offers FREE M2M on their ENTIRE network.
Now I know that Cing. still doesn't have the net adds per quarter, but damn, they've got price structure, phone selection, and free M2M on you guys. Get in gear fellas, it doesn't take much for number 2 to become number 1 these days.

umm, they did get in gear since they added m2m on their covered areas, not just in network. Idiot's should not be allowed to post here.

Now you may have all the up to date info on all the new rateplan and features on the rate plan but the rest of us can only go by what information VZW gives us. The website is still showing an awful lot of difference between the IN calling area and the Coverage area. Instead of insulting people why don't you try and assiting people and help with the missinformation VZW gives.

Maybe he should learn to READ better. The original poster said he received NEW RATE GUIDES. You won't find them on the website just yet because they haven't officially been launched.
...
maybe you should learn to think a few times a day. I saw that he recieved new rate guides. and my original post said it was ABOUT DAMN TIME that the IN network matched the coverage map. I was simply stating that all the other carriers had beaten them to the punch with it and that I'm sure it was frustrating to the customers to have two or three different maps to refer to. It was dumb as hell to have a totally different map for M2M calling to begin with. @$$!!!!
Vox, Thanks a lot, some folks just don't appreciate an opinion. Besides...I work for Cingular, not VZW, it's not like I'd be privy to any more info than the standard customer. I was replying to the original poster and actually cheering them for makin a good decision and I ge...

Price Structure? What the hell are you talking about, Cingular and VZW are almost identical in price price structure. One big difference is that VZW has almost twice the customers of Cingular so the In-network is much more beneficial to our customers, even if it is not the entire coverage area.
...
My point is that almost doesn't count in a day and age when some folks will go three more miles down the road and wait in line for 5 cents cheaper on gasoline. Those same folks will go to a wireless company that offers more at the same price or the same at a lower one. It's just the nature of some people.
Granted the IN network works because there are more customers, BUT (big but), if you're not in the area covered by IN, but you ARE in your normal coverage area then you're not really benefitting from having the IN network. Why keep guessing if this call is gonna be free? Just make it the ENTIRE network and be done with it. Easier on the customer, easier on the carrier.

I realize you were in a little bit of a rant there disturbed, but this is an exaggeration. The coverage map and roaming map are one in the same. Let's see who's a genius shall we?? If you're looking at a coverage map of the Americas Choice network and you are in an area that is not showing coverage on the map then what are you in? Anyone.....Anyone....Buehler??? Thats correct childrens that mean you're in roaming. why would we make a map specifically for roaming when you can look at the map for the America's Choice Plan and say....oh that place isn't red...I bet it's not covered...

😲 I work in NE market I haven't heard anything about this, after reading about here I just went and asked my supervisor. My supervisor said he hasn't heard anything about it either. You would think "NEWS THIS HUGE" would have immediately been broad casted in all the call centers. I'm trying to use M&P's to find info about it can't seem to find an appropriate keyword to find anything. Can someone help me with that? 😕
...
😕 Well, I have looked in infomanager on each regions home page, "nothing", I checked IM search, "nothing". I think whom ever started this forum may have pulled it out of there ass. Waiting to hear back from my call centers project manager, to get word from Corporate. Until then it's only hear-say. 🙄

We got the new rate guides in by UPS yesterday. They are dated 9/4. They have some goofy chick with a pink vest and she is talking on a nokia 3589 with a headset. There is no longer two different maps in the guide. It clearly states that the red and pink are both in network areas now. Even the local maps have only one map. I know that its not on the website yet and not on infomanager, but im telling you guys we got the guides. It even says on the map, "new expanded in-network calling area"
I have no reason to lie to you guys, take it as you will, but eventually you will all see.

9/4?
No way man. I only say that cause I just ordered some new brochures and the same ones came in compared to what I already have.
Sides if it was something THIS HUGE then ALL of us in the indirect and direct channels would of been informed immediately. Are you sure you aren't looking at a single rate brochure? No offense intended.
...
Possitive, if you have a way I can send it to you then let me know.
...
I just spoke to VZW customer service and was told that this IN - network change will be taking effect as of 9/27/04. She was surprized I knew since the info was not to be released yet.
...
Are we going to have to sign a new contract? I really don't care about contracts. If Verizon had a 10 year contract, I would sign it. They are the best network. I have had them all. trust me.
...
I have been told today by a VZW rep that you would need to sign a new contract to take advantage of the new promotion.
...
Thanks Sammy!!!! Like I said I would sign a 10 year contract.
...
Just keep in mind the roaming areas that might pertain to your contract.
...
They are not dated 9/4. They are dated 09/04, as in September 2004, not September 4th.
Look closer next time you give info that a lot of people don't have yet.
...
well how about that - it's true.
...
It may be true, but what's true is still unclear to me. Will the In Network include Verizon's Extended Service Area (where service is provided by other carriers), or will it include merely the entire Verizon service area (where service is provided only by Verizon)?
...
Right now the latter of the 2 is how it is....MTM only being available while on VZW towers... As of monday it will be available across the ENTIRE network...mean extended areas and all...now in order for your phone to recognize this change you MUST MUST MUST do an update on your phone. *228 SEND either option 1 or 2 will get the job done....doesn't matter...
...
Terrific news. Thanks for the explanation of how to make it work.
...
Chill out bud, 09/04 or 9/4, how do you know there is a difference? Whats to say they dont list everything in double digits or are they going to do october 4th like 010/04? Eh, at any rate, not something to get all pissy about.
...
Let me put this to rest... Its going to be grandfathered in to all the plans with "in network" (the Mobile-to-mobile plans will have to price plan chage (renew contract! (cha-ching!)) to get the new area... As of today we were told to display the brochures, with the understanding that the customer won't have to intervene to get the new area... Just my $0.02 worth...
...
Well, the other reps on here must have some special access because I still haven't heard about this. It's a great idea, I just wonder how it will work...how will the billing system know the other caller is a VZW subscriber if the call wasn't placed/rec'd on our network?
