Solectron

Whelp bad news, just a heads up. Get your resume in order guys/gals. Within the next few months, Solectron will no longer be a contracted by VZW. They knew it was coming but just found out last week. I work in HR and in my region, we are putting together packages now that will be offered to the field employee's and management.

I don't check these forums but felt the urge to pass the word because of the slimey way they are handling the situation. 👿

The tech spot has been eliminated in most locations in my area in place of an actual Verizon customer service rep. Sorry for the loss of your job, but the tech spot was worthless. There wasn't one thing that our tech could do that our customer service reps couldn't where conversely there were many things the tech couldn't do that the CSR's could. We really liked our tech so when we eliminated the position for an extra CRS, she got the job. Talk to your store's manager about the possibility. I bet they'd be pretty receptive to the idea as they wouldn't have to train someone from scratch.

I think the comment was harsh too. Like putting salt on someone's wounds.

I never could understand why we use Selectron in the first place. We could just hire someone and train them to do the same thing and they would be a VZW employee. Selectron pays their people crap so there is/was constant turnover. The techs in my stores referred to them as Sh**tlectron.

It was pretty funny the other day the tech at our store was telling a customer that the 8600 didnt vibrate and ring at the same time, and he had the phone......typical example at why verizon would benefit at not having them...

listen. there are a few things that vzw are right regarding tech support. but depending on the location, there are tech that are well trained. i'm offended to hear the insults coming from this forum. you all need to take a few pointers from the east coast. we may not be perfect, but we get the job done right.

The same in the Indianapolis area. All the stores are getting rid of the tech counter. There is one store on the north side and one on the south side with a tech left, that's it.

this is for gmflash88... dont get too excited. you think that you know everything in the technicial aspect of this. you need to carefully think about what you and the rest are saying. do you know the mapping of the main board in the phone??? or how many layers on the board... do research, then judge

All I know is that our techs are great and help out more than you can imagine. They really know there stuff. I was a CSR and they know much more than I will ever know. At least at my store.
