I was browsing the forums at treocentral.com, and someone mentioned paying for a mobile web package with his Treo 650, and not the Broadband one. I'm confused. Is there a seperate plan for EVDO PDAs and 1x PDAs? If so, how much is the 1x rate? Thanks.
...
I just had a costumer who has a Treo 650. I looked up the account and i was suprised to see mobile web as one of the features. It's 'Mobile Web self pro - $5.00'
...
is this still available? 🤤
...
I just checkedm, it is still available
...
is it full web access using Blazer?
...
I'm not sure about that
...
I would assume it has a Data Cap, Probably around 25MB, and probably only has National Access Speeds I will look into it...
...
how much web browsing is equal to 25 mb?
...
The only way to get that feature on your treo. is to have a regular non-pda phone, add the mobile web 2.0, then switch the esn. our computer system will not add it to a treo/pda. the mobile web 2.0 is really not a "full web" feature but like a mini browser designed for checking wap sites. I am positive their is a cap on the data usage and using it as a full web browser would definably get you there fast.
...
mobile web does give you access to "full web". I can go out to any website. Some don't work right if they have features that are incompatible like flash or formatting that doesn't fit the screen size, but I can go to any website that I have an address for.
I use the mobile web a lot, never once came across this cap that you talk about, which is probably because if there is a cap, it would be the same cap used for all data fruad, 5 gb...
...
are you using it with a Treo 650 or a regular phone?
...
mobile web cannot be used with a treo, treo's by decault access the web with no feature, adding mobile web will probably result in per KB charges and the $5 mobile web subscribtion
...
If the mobile web has a cap, it's going to be the 5gb that they cap any data transfers at.
However, mobile web does not count usage in KB, instead in minutes, and you can't really abuse the mobile web since flash won't work, not really any games to play and you can't really spam from it...
And if you have an evdo phone, mobile web is at broadband speeds while in the coverage area...
...
my post was asking about Mobile Web using a Treo 650
...
mobile web is just for phones, not for PDAs, Blackberrys, smartphones, or datacards.
The only options for any data device are, $24.99 for 10mb allowance $.005 per kb over. $44.99 for "unlimited" access (capped at 5gb, you will not hit this if you are following the terms of use) or the pay as you go KB at $.015 per kb
it may show as an available feature but it is not a feature that can be added to any kind of pda, and you will should get an error when adding it. Just because you can see a feature doesn't mean it can/should be added.
If you do indeed work for VZW, please go get more training...
...
I've seen mobile web on a couple of PDAs, and what it does is charge the customer kilobyte usage AND minutes. They end up calling into customer service for credit because some idiotic rep told them it was unlimited data for $5.
...
anyone else know anything?
...
I can't be sure about Verizon but I doubt you are supposed to have that specific package. That's why there are PDA plans available. I've even seen our mail in rebates rejected because a Blackjack will have a Media Max or something of the sort. There are a set of plans for phones and a set of plans for PDAs.
...
Actually the mobile web package for $5 you're talking about does absolutely _NOTHING_ for you, it's a waste of money. If you feel like throwing away $5 a month, send it my way 😁.
As far as being charged both minutes and usage, that is completely unrelated to having the mobile web package on your account. If that is happening to an account, it means the PDA for some strange reason got activated with the wrong feature codes (something that used to happen a ton but now not so much with the training and info VZW has given to its store employees and customer care reps).
