voicemail problems -Need CSR help

my brother in law has a VZW family plan. Fro some reason he is only able to have about three voicemails recorded. His wife is able to have many and never has bumped into this limit. He has told me that he has spoken to VZW and that it never seems to be resolved.

This is the story I have been told. I have never heard of this. Sorry for the sketchy information. It is all I have.

I have never had this problem with my VZW service.

1. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

2. What are the appropriate solutions?

3. If the CSR can resolve this, what should they be doing?

Immediate thought i have is that he is using the phones voicemail box instead of the systems. The voicemail system has a limit of 30 in my area, but i doubt any area would limit to 3, even the basic ones.

what kind of phone does he have?

Not certain , but it is a new one he acquired this month through VZW. The older one (still a new phone) had the same issues (I do not assume it is the phone itself). We are in the Denver metro area.

I call to leave him a message and receive an outgoing message stating the voice mailbox is full.

More than likely he has the basic voicemail package on his phone which will only allow 3 voicemails to be recieved or saved at one time. He will need to call into Customer Service and have them change his voicemail package to Voicemail Plus which will hold up to 20 messages and up to 3 min in length for each one. There isn't any additional cost to change it either.

He has an older, analog, or basic Voicemail box.

You can verify this by looking at the Enhanced Services on his bill, if it says Basic Voicemail, that is a box that holds only 3 messages and has only the standard greeting.

You should ask them to remove basic Voicemail, and add Voicemail Plus (free). If the problem persists, you can have a tech support rep manually rebuild him a Voicemail Plus mailbox.

Most users have already been migrated to this system.

After switching systems you'll have to reset up your voicemail box (including choosing a password and greeting).

Voicemail Plus in most areas holds 20 messages, up to two minutes in length. Basic Voicemail is 3 messages 30 seconds in length.
