Jon Fortt, the author of the online site The Utility Belt, has bounced from Verizon Wireless to Sprint. I'll let you hear right from the horse's mouth so to speak...

Ditching Verizon Wireless for Sprint:

The sweet data deal

"I was already itching to ditch Verizon (VZ).
My wife and I had switched from Sprint (S) two years ago, because Sprint service was spotty in the apartment where she lived before we got married. But it was time to switch back.

Two years back we got on a Verizon Wireless family plan and commenced to paying through the nose – between $155 and $170 per month, typically – for two lines with enoug...

I think it's funny how this guy is excited about how he's paying more money than he used to be. As soon as he gets used to their service he'll switch back.

Sprint is constantly improving their already robust and powerful network people. Don't forget, Sprint was the first national wireless carrier to launch 1xEV-DO Rev A and tentatively will be the first one to launch a 4G network in the fourth quarter of this year.

Well, Verizon has never been a carrier to be first at launch, it would seem but I would note what Fierce Wireless said:

Nice post, i wish there was a good comparison to sprints evdo rev a to vzw's rev a coverage area. I think, although i am not quite sure, that we may have more cites covered already.

Being the first means nothing. When the product is crap or to to small to market.

I tend to agree with this, What's the big deal about Rev A, So what if Sprint launched it first or Verizon flooded the market. There is no Rev A handset, just some aircards and a Coming Soon on PDA's. Until everyone on Sprint and Verizon switch over to VOIP phone on Rev A or Wimax... the Voice network will be around for a long tine and be what people judge their service by. We are a long way before data lone = net adds.
