Techguy06

I was told that I could take an Altell SLVR and use it on the Verizon Network? Anyone know if this can be done?? or have attempted it?? In theory it should work they both are on the CDMA network. I have the Razr now, its okay. But I have to say i absolutly detest the Verizon Operating system that's on all the phones now.

Be careful about saying anything about the UI in here. The fan-boys swear they love it to DEATH!!!! They might start harassing you and stalking you until you change your mind and post a retract from this post....

I work for VZW and I stand my ground...

The UI is the most pathetic thing I have ever seen...

The only progress I've seen is the flash UI's on the chocolates - which is rad but we (VZW) should start making new kooler ones available for download...

I'd pay for cool ones... long as its cheap like $0.99. Thats do able.

You shouldn't have to pay. The original manufacturer's UI should be on the already.

Not everyone likes the manufacturers UI. I do, but not everyone else does.

And, there is a market out there willing to pay (long as its reasonable) for cool and exciting UI's. Just look how many (and how popular) home screen themes are with PDA's. There's a market for eveything nowadays.

It depends on the specific model, I have seen plenty that could activate without any problem, and I have seen tons that couldnt be active.

The problem is not IF they are compatiable with verizons CDMA network, but if VZW has their ESNs loaded into their system.

If you can provide an ESN from Alletl I can tell you if it can be activated.

Verizon loads the esn numbers from there phones into the system so they will pop up 911 compliant when we enter them. They would most likely not have an esn from alltel loaded into the system so it will come up as non 911 compliant and they will not load it for you. Your only hope is to ge tthe verizon sliver and try to flash the altel software on it like some people didi with the razr. Just remember when you do this your data services are not going to work.

On a personal note the sliver is garbage and not worth the hassle.
