Call Waiting Beep

sprimav

I have been told that there is a way to stop the incoming caller from hearing the beep when you are on a call. Is that true? If so how do I do it?

Call Tech Support and ask to have the Call Waiting Ringback Tone turned off or buy a Ringback tone.

I don't have a ring back tone to turn off though. It's the standard beep callers get.

Thats not what they meant...if you subscribe to ringback tones then the caller will hear the song and will not hear that beep to let them know u are on the phone they just hear the song thats all...

you shouldn't have to buy a ringback tone to get rid of that, thats ridiculous. Just call customer service.

Yeah, I don't want a song playing while someone is trying to call me anyway. It seems childish.

Why do they even have ringback tones anyway?

Got it. If I don't want the ringback tone, how do I get rid of the beep?

What is the big deal? I am not being funny just really curious. Does it bother your callers or what?

Maybe he ignores them and doesn't want them getting pissy at him.

Good luck with that customer service has no way to take that off besides taking your call waiting off completely...

Once again, Verizon is screwing us over with something completely unnecessary.

Exactly right. If I don't answer I don't want people to think I am ignoring them and just don't want to talk to them. Which in some cases really is the case. I have been told that the beep can be removed. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this and can tell me what to say when I call VZ to have it done.

It seems to me as though the people calling you need to understand that you are on another call and not expect you to answer. Their choices are to either leave a message or hang up. It's being respectful.

And I understand that as well. I guess it is as much a issue to me as it potentially is to them. I hate having it on there. Not a big deal. I will call VZ tech support and work it out with them. like I said I have heard that it can be done, I was simply looking to see if anyone had any info on what I should say to them to make the change easy.

Even if you don't answer. Its a cell phone goes were ever you go so 9 out of 10 times you don't answer you are ignoring them or on the phone beep r no beep!

what city and state do you live in. Better yet what is your area code. It really depends on what market you are in. As an example I am in the midwest and there is a feat call....(call waiting distinct ringback) which will turn off that beeps that callers hear when you are on the other line. some markets don't have this feat but if you give me you area code I can check for you.

Area Code 801. I have had service with AT&T, Qwest and Sprint in the past and VZ is the only one that has had the beep so far in my area.
