Billing date question.

fiveXfive

Oct 1, 2004, 1:17 PM
If my billing date is on the 14th is there anyway I can get a phone (Audiovox 9900, $49.99 promo might end the 11th) early w/out incuring major fees? I have no problem staying with VZW and extending the contract but I'd rather not have any extra, unnecessary fees. Any comments would be appreciated.

The bill cycle doesn't have anything to do with purchasing a phone. You can purchase a phone at anytime and you would only see the price of your phone on your bill!! So just as long as you are eligible for a phone upgrade you can do it at anytime!!!!

More than likely if your NE2 is in May of '05 you aren't eligible for an upgrade yet. So in that case you would have to pay the retail price on the phone which they have lowered to $149.99 until 10/11/04 for the promotion and then the retail price will be changed to the correct price. I would just call into customer service and we can look up your upgrade date and then you will know for sure what price to expect to pay if you decide to get the phone!!!!

Even though your new every 2 is still a year away, when was the last time you upgraded your phone? You could upgrade early if you are willing to renew your contract for 2yrs and it's on a price plan of $49.99 or higher. But, if you choose this option you will push your new every 2 date back another year. As far as changing you before the bill cycle date you would incur a prorated bill because your changing the plan during the cycle.

If the NE2 date is 05/05 then the eligibility date would also be 05/05--> this is reflective upon the last upgrade. If the customer is on a plan of 49.99-74.99 they can upgrade in 03/05(4 months prior to contract end date) or if they're on a plan $75+ then they can upgrade 6 months prior to contract end date (01/05). This is the policy in the west for upgrading at a direct retail location.

Their will be no prorations for upgrading your equipment only if you also changed your calling plan which you're not obligated to do.

If it has been at least 1yr since the customer has upgraded then they could upgrade early as long as the contract is renewed for 2yrs on a price plan of $49.99 or higher. When the customer gets the new equipment and the contract is renewed 9 times out of 10 its for the most current promotion and depending on when the customer is upgrading they may have a prorated bill because of where they are within the bill cycle. As a customer service rep I see this situation quite alot and often recommend that if the customer wants to upgrade he or she should wait until the end of the cycle to save on the prorates.

I kinda have mixed feelings about that policy and one other policy that's also in the east.

It's completely different here in the west, the earliest a cust can upgrade is 6 months prior to contract end date if they're on a plan that's $75+.

Sometimes I wish we had that policy. Dealing with customers who wants things now and for less than free can be a little frustrating.
