What exactly do they do to the phones when they "reflash" them? My brother has had his phone (T730) reflashed like 3 times by now! I don't understand it, it seems like whatever they do it does'nt fix crap! Oh also, can they reflash GSM phones? or is this something that's done only on CDMA phones?

Reflashing is a term used back in my days as a pc tech. We would "re-flash" the hard drive to reset it back to factory standards. We would "re-flash" the computer bios to reset it back to factory standards.

IMHO the re-flashing of a cell phone should reset its operating system BACK to factory standards. If that isn't working then it would mean the moto t730 phone has defective hardware.

Err don't quote me on that. Wireless phones are a difficult animal to deal with when they dont work right.

Can any of the wireless techs post in on this one?

Sometimes the term Re-flash also means that they are updating the fermware (the operating system). Normaly it means reseting back to defaults but that is not accually flashing. It's a really dumb term. Flashing equiment means you are 'burning' software into a chip that normaly can't take new information. What they are normaly doing when they re-flash though is just reseting the phone to what the software says is the default.

You can have the phone set back to factory defaults yes (this is sometimes called a master reset). Some phones come out with updated software and must be reflashed at a techstore (depends on the manufacture of the phone) or sent into the manufacture to be reflashed.
