Hello everyone, im new to this site and to VZW. I will be having a lot of questions soon. Here's my 1st one

Why does VZW ask for a pass word or the last four my social security number? That kinda seems silly.

It is a security feature kind of like a password on the acct. Most all places will ask for some sort of your social now...

Also due to Privacy Laws that are in effect right now.l..we need to try to verify that you are who you say you are. That way we don't give out your info to anyone and contribute to the growing number of cases of Identity Fraud. Hope this helps! 😁

That's just silly, is that what you tell all customers? I think VZW should start trusting there customers not intirigating them every chance they have

okay I'll keep that in mind if you call in...or if anybody calls in and says that they are you...How would you like it if you recieved a bill and all of a sudden you were on a 6000 minute calling plan for 300.00 and you didn't authorize us to change it? Thats the reason we ask for verification. In order to try to protect our customers as much as possible

Would you want someone to setup an account under your name?

Change your calling plan without your permission?

Order themselves a dozen new camera phones?

That's why we have security precautions. It's the same with your bank, your cable company, and pretty much anyone who bills you on a monthly basis where a change to your account could potentially have a huge material impact.

It's not to interrogate you, it's to protect you.

Cell phone industry is unfortunately plagued by one of the highest rates of identity fraud of any business.
