Good news gun

Type S is on the new rebates ($50 rebate)
and it was just put on the approved device list

Although neither of these things points at a firm release date, it is good to know you weren't imagining the phone.

15. Finally! Found something more on the Type-S (waiting for Verizon is worse than watching paint dry). 3/27/2007, [Alledged at NAB Show in Las Vegas April 14-17 - Handset Vendors Segment The Market: Attendees looking for the lowdown on new handsets... Here’s a sampling of what attendees will find at select booths: Casio: The company is expanding its G'zOne (Jeez-Wun) lineup of ruggedized phones with the Type S, which is smaller and more stylish than the original Type V but still promoted as being resistant to shock, dust, water, humidity, salt, fog and solar radiation. It also resists scratches and vibration. It will be on display in the booth of UTStarcom, which will distribute it in the United States.

Do I sense a feeling of bitterness? 🀣 🀣 🀣 Yeah, I do! It burns your insides that Verizon passed on it, doesn't it? Gunny! you can always port to AT&T... You are not going to be the only one anyway... ask around... 🀣 Even your ex-vz fan pepsijunky is considering switching for the BB Pearl. He wants to try the greener side. He (just like Matt_a) Will find out that Verizon is not all that. Cingular is not just as good as Verizon. But better...!

Its 5.99 for a good reason, but as long as you don't mind waiting forever then you are g2g!

EDGE actually isn't that slow. It's not as fast as EV-DO but it's not bad. It's faster than my home computer. I have Netscape. 🀭

Right on then you are used to it, you think you'll really make the switch?

I think so. It's about the same price as Sprint's SERO, but Tmob CS is 10x better than Sprint's (or so I've heard).

Plus, I'd really like to go GSM. SIM cards are awesome. I think of it like CDMA phones are like hardwiring a phone to an account, whereas GSM/SIMs are more like a phone jack. User interchangable, quick and easy to switch.

Gonna get the BB Pearl for my main phone, a Motorola C139 GoPhone that I will unlock to use as my beat-up phone, and maybe something else just for fun like a RIZR maybe.

And I'm not going to miss Verizon Nazi lock downs. T-Mobile is so much more free!

Gonna miss you guys here though. Maybe I'll come here sometime to visit. πŸ˜‰

lol cool cool I have used tmobile before and they are not that bad at all. I live in the Seattle area which is tmobile headquarters so their service is pretty beefed up over here, but I still had coverage issues outside of town. The cs is good overall, but verizon cs is better and so is the coverage...but each to his own if it works for you I hope you are happy πŸ™‚
