If I threaten to cancel my account because I can get data from Sprint for only $15 per month, do you think Verizon will give me a discounted price on data?

I know that works with landline phone and cable companies 😈

I bet if you sign up for the Max Choice plan they will discount your data plan down to $30 dollars. 😁

But other then that... NO

The higher your mins, the lower your data plan.

450 mins is usually 39.99 plus $40 (instead of $44.99) for data = $79.99

So the 4000 min is $30 for data

There's a lot of arrogance w/ Verizon, and you can see from the employee replies in this forum that it's something bred thru-out the company, I doubt they will do much for you, unless ...

How would you go about canceling? If you're still tied into a contract, they don't care, they know they got you so they don't have to deal.

herbf,

Please provide an example of a cell carrier that will give a discount on a fee to match another carrier? Or is it not just the Verizon employees?

What can I say that will prove it to the point where you will believe. You''ll dismiss it.

Anyway, I've found some of the other carriers very creative and flexible to sway consumers. Both AT&T and Sprint have offered incentives to switch service over to them. They will offer phones for free, which are not typically free. They've included messaging plans to cover an entire family plan for one fee.

Verizon on the other hand wouldn't offer me the 2 year pricing 4 months early on one of my kids line even though I had 2 accounts and spent over $300/mo between my corporate acct, and home. I even went up to mgmt in customer retention and they still said we're sorry, our systems don't allow us to modify or tailor the plans or bills. We hope yo...

Everybody offers you stuff to switch, reps make more commission new activations. But once you are in with AT&T or Sprint, you can't demand a discount or break on a month charge for something they have set prices on. There is a difference between Can't and Won't

Quoted For Truth. At least, from the retail store POV.

To be honest, based on my past dealings, it doesn't matter to the rep in a retail store how much you individually spend on your plan. I absolutely love when a customer throws that in my face when dealing with something I genuinely can not change. If something is out of our control, then it is out of our control.

I've responded with, "if you paid ME that much every month, I'd be your best friend EVER. Too bad that's not the case." They don't like that too much sometimes . . .

All you have to say is the name of the company that adjusts pricing at a customers request for a monthly service. You stated that the arrogance of Verizons employees prevents this from happening. Which is the company that does not have these arrogant employees, and therefore adjusts pricing?

That would prove it to the point that I would believe.

Have you not read any of the threads on Sprint's SERO plans. Seems like there are plenty of deals available, pretty much just for the asking.

Yes I have read some of the threads on the SERO Plan. It sounds like a good plan. But that still doesnt have anything to do with your original post.

1. Thats a specific plan, not a discount for asking.

2. Did Sprint create that plan due to their lack of arrogant employees?

I guess I always wonder about these responses. I mean, I have many services and products that have non-negotiable prices. I mean, my cost per therm on my gas bill is still the same whether I pay each month as it comes or the budget saver. It's still the same cost. My Direct TV; they offer incentives once in a while but only on selected services and terms and conditions ...

I have a question for retention. I live in a area that has low coverage. It used to be decent and this winter it went down hill. They came and looked the area over in janurary and said that the area is not covered good and offered to let me out of my contract. They said that they are going to look into it and see what can be done to fix the problem. In may they say they are bringing in a COW to set up and work on the tower and see if anything can be done to improve the service in town. My question is if I call in and ask for a discount on my bill till they can provide service that is usable again, will they work with us. I just talked to someone about this and I can still shut my service off and I am thinking about doing so, as I don'...

I doubt this would happen, Verizon rather let you out of a contract then credit you every month for a couple of years.

..and to that end, it isn't good business to offer substandard service even if the customer agrees to the substandard terms. To many issues may arise not only with the service but also equipment as the phone now has to work that much harder to find a signal which is a drain on the phone and the battery. Too many secondary issues come about and if others in the area want the same deal, it is a hornets nest of trouble. Best to let the customer go freely to choose a more appropriate carrier and let the customer come back if and/or when they feel inclined to do so.

You want to know what I think.... the thing is you could call and you could b*t*h but most companies have a policy on discounting services. The thing about your situation is that in most areas, SPRINT will not be as good of a service and VZW knows that and that is why they know that they can charge the higher fee based off the fact most people will pay for the reliability factor. Don't get me wrong- there will be areas the SPRINT will be better or just as reliable but in most cases I have been in the SPRINT service has issues. Like I said, just an opinion before I start getting bashed.

I am sure... But the thing is with any wireless company- the know whether or not it is worth it. And SPRINT unfortunately is losing a lot of customers are in the situation that AT&T Wireless was a few years back where they handed out the world and soon that is going to come back and bite them in the proverbial a$$.
