So the default password on my account is the last four of my social security number which I am now over; I still think it's gay that VZW doesn't trust their customers.

Why can a password I set on the account be only five characters max->this really pisses me off.

It's not that they don't trust their customers. They don't trust the criminals who are using identity theft, subscription fraud, and social engineering to make a living off of other peoples good credit rating, and, in the processing screwing these people for the rest of there lives. When ever this starts to frustrate you just remember we are doing this to protect you.

Maybe FunGuy should just publish their cell number, real name, and last four of the social and see what happens.

Never mind, I'm sure someone who WANTED to do that to him could just get that information quicker than it took me to type this.

It's not that we don't trust our customers it's that we don't trust those who are willing to call in and act as if they are our customers in order to mess you up! How have you not been able to understand that from all the info we have given you on this subject and all of the scenarios we have presented to you????

That has got to be the dumbest compaint I've heard in awhile. Congrats. Every GOOD company asks for the last four of your social to verify it's you. Guess what else? If you're not the authorized user on the account you're lucky if they'll even talk to you. Legally, they don't have to. You may not appreciate the privacy policies corporations have in place, but once somebody else runs up you credit and it screws you over for the next ten years you'll really wish you had them back.

Its gay? Ok so when some random person calls us and wants to cancel YOUR account just for kicks, for varification, maybe we should ask them something like, "well, do you promise you are who are say you are? you can't cross your fingers either"

Its gay that debit cards have PIN numbers too, huh..

LOL, Great response... But 85percent is right... Verification porcesses are set for YOUR protection, Companies lose money over fraud as much as the customer... So they make every effort to avoid it... instead of thinking VzW(or any other company) doesn't trust you... Just think they have these security checks in place for your protection.

The funny thing is, you're not conforming to OUR ways. You've been conforming to this since you started a checking accnt, or got your own place and paid for cable or electric, or even for you car pymnt and insurance...It's EVERY company that you deal with. Companies can actually get in serious trouble for making changes on an accnt without the customers permission. It's good that you "conform" now because you would be one pissed off customer with any company you have any service with for the rest of your life...
