Whats with the hiring??
I live here in central florida and noticed that verizon has a ton of positions available for retail sales. Anyone know why they have so much availability? I found this odd because for the last year the retail sales positions were few and far bar in between. I was always under the impression that verizons sales team were well paid both comp./hourly and happy to work there. I hope this is still the case and there hasnt been any comp. changes that is causing this. I say this because i'll be starting for VZ in a few weeks and im coming over from another company that has screwed it employees over for the last 3 years. so what do you all think of this????????

Well, I dont work for VZW directly, I own a couple of indirect locations, I do have realitives that work in a major city in other states that work for VZW corp locations, and they absolutly make bank, around 80-100k a year, plus benefits and tuition reimbursement

Yeah, if I wasnt doing what I am now, I would go to work for a corp store, but where im at I think they only make about $50k ish, which isnt too bad, but you have to do everything under a microscope.

when you say "freed up" does that mean just to hire more people? I guess my main question is, has the comp gone down???

I don't know if the comp structure has gone down, but my friend left a Sprint Corp store for a verizon corp store and he is making the same 45K he was making at Sprint. He is making far more sales with Verizon but on the flip side the expectation is greater and Verizon is tougher with accessory quota and chargebacks on data package cancellations after the first free month. Hope that helps a little.

i work in a corp. store, the comm hasn't changed in a while, and it doesn't appear to be changing anytime soon. base pay has always been the same, and i still get raises every year. they're just hiring alot of people this year because they're expanding greatly, mainly because of how well the company has been doing the past few years, especially last year.
