Whats up dudes and dudettes?

My ? is how early can you renew your contract. My mom has 1 more month before her 2 year agreement expires and her LG phone has just about died completely. Will they let her renew 1 month early and resign another contract or will she have to wait? Also, which phone would you recommend for a woman in her mid 50's that would last for 2+ years. I know that Nokia's are great GSM phones but not sure for CDMA. Thanks for responding!

hey ygbhen,

You should be able to upgrade now. I would call into customer care at 800-922-0204 and have her ask to be sure. or she can log into her my account and get her upgrade date.

as for phone, it depends on what she wants really. does she want a camera? bluetooth? vcast? mp3 player? pda etc? I know you said she is mid 50's but that doesnt mean she doesnt want bluetooth etc.

im going to assume she doesnt care about features since you didnt indicate she did.
I would reccomend:

1. Motorola W315 if she wants just something really basic.
2. Motorola V325i for a very good midrange phone with good reception etc (also has bt and navigator)
3. LG VX8300 for a higher end phone that is a good performer. good signal strength and du...

depending on if she's on a price plan of 79.99 or higher she can upgrade and renew after one year, if not she can renew two months before her contract end date.

you can upgrade annually with a contract of 59.99 or higher I believe. And I second the recomendation of the 8300...great all around phone. If she wants a phone that can take a bruising for a couple of year...get her the G'zone!

The 8300 is good, but the replacements are horrible. My friend got hers stolen and had to get a replacement. It sucked!!

You can renew the contract and upgrade your phone 2 months before your contract ends.

If you want a basic phone that works well and is going to last, I would look at a LG VX5300. Other people recommended the 8300 which is a great phone, but it has a lot of features she may never use. I have a lot of people in your mom's age group that refuse the higher end phones because they're afraid they will confuse themselves. The 5300 is a great phone that will pick up a signal in some areas that the 8300 won't (although these areas are out in the boonies and it's irrelevent in the city).

I would get a VX5300 for a basic user.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I think I am going to purchase her 8300. Everybody here seems to give it rave reviews so I think I will go with that. Thanks again!

It's the perfect phone for people that might not use the features right away, but may decide to after time.

Yeah, the only feature that she will use is bluetooth b/c I am going to get her a headset as well. It seems like a well rounded phone for all users.

The LG VX5300 also has bluetooth.

If you're not going to use the music player, VCast, or video capabilities, I'd say go with the VX5300.

The 8300 has known Bluetooth capability issues with a number of headsets, when you buy the phone you may want to try a headset at the store or do some research to see which headsets work the best.
