Change tone for mail received on 6700?

Hello!

A friend has the 6700 PocketPC phone. It uses ActiveSync to sync his email every five minutes and every time a new message arrives, it makes an obnoxious tone to alert him. He said that the tone cannot be changed.

I am considering the 6800 when it (IF?) it ever comes out, but that tone would keep me from buying the phone.

Does anyone know a way to change the alert tone for new email?

Thank you!

if you want to change tones you normally need to go into start, settings, sounds & notifications, tap on the notifications tab at the bottom. then in the event field click the drop down menu to the appropriate event you want to change the tone for. once you pick that then tick the box under it that says play sound and to the right the field will light up and you can hit the down arrow and change it.

if you want to add your own tone than you can use any .wav sound and tranfer it to the windows folder of your device through active sync. once you do that the sound will be available in the drop down box above the next time you go to it. hope that helps.

Thank you for the information. It did not make sense to me that the alert sound could not be changed. I will let my friend know the procedure you outlined.
