ATT/Cingular Wireless Growth Falls Short
At least ATT/Cingy's churn continues to improve, though slowly.
AT&T’s wireless growth falls short, but financials remain strong

AT&T Inc.’s wireless division, Cingular Wireless, posted mixed first quarter results with customer growth coming in below expectations but churn and average revenue per user exceeding forecasts.
The country’s largest wireless carrier said it added just shy of 1.2 million customers during the quarter, which was an 18-percent jump compared with the first quarter of 2006 but short of ...

yep I bet sprint beats them 🤣 🤣 I predict its only going to get worse from here on out.
That's going a bit far. ATT/Cing may have had a disappointing quarter adds-wise, but they'd have to implode to do as bad as Sprint. 😳

Analysts were expecting stronger customer growth from AT&T as smaller rival Sprint Nextel Corp. has been hemorrhaging customers over the past several quarters. Some claimed AT&T’s inability to gain those customers shows it is losing market share to Verizon Wireless.

That's the paragraph I found most interesting. When does Verizon report its quarter results?
The positive is that Cingular has rebounded in Postpaid customers and lowered churn. I am very curious to see what Sprintel churn looks like as well as their numbers.
Cingular= 1.2 million
Verizon= did not report yet but my estimates 1.8 million.
1st quarter 2006
Cingular= 1.7 million.
Verizon= 1.7 million
1st quarter 2005
Cingular= 1.4 million.
Verizon= 1.64 million
It is a slower quarter but for Cingular and Verizon Wireless, it should not have been a slower quarter. Look at the past results for the 2 companies from 1st quarter 2006 and 1st quarter 2005. You can see that 2006 numbers improved from 2005. I was thinking the same thing for Cingular in 2007 of the first quarter; however, as mentioned before I was disappointed. I do agree with your point that they improved their postpaid which I think is key to growth, but 1.2 million vs. 1.7 million a year ago perio...

Are you going to hide again when Sprint gets it's butt kicked and be nowhere to be found, what happened last quarter, were you preaching in a third world country with no internet access???

Pound Salt MidnightDT. Nextel18 doesn't need a defense team, he needs to answer why he talks crap and then hides instead of defending himself when wrong.
There's not much to say there, is there? Sprint-Nextel is going through merger hell just as Cingular and ATT did two plus years ago, and, just like the Cing-ATT deal, it's gonna take them a long time to get it together.
If nextel18 said otherwise, he was obviously wrong. Case closed, no need to dwell on it. 🤨
We should be seeing a lot of positive impacts from late 3rd quarter to 4th quarter of 2007 and throughout 2008 as this device, the IPHONE without 3G and then if they launch it with 3G will be a huge impact to both Cingular and AT&T.

Yes, it isn’t supposed to happen especially since T-mobile and Sprint are struggling and even though this market is reaching saturation limits they could still steal customers from those companies mentioned above. Especially looking at trends from 2005 to 2006, one would expect that there would be some growth and not a 500k or so decline from 2006 to 2007 customer growth.
When does Verizon report its Q1 numbers?
If they do well, along with some others, then we may not have seen the saturation point in the US market yet.
