Verizon Wireless adds double the retail customers that AT&T does Q12007
VZW 1,600,000 Retail Adds
how bout that?
VZW still #1 in retail customers and the largest mobile to mobile calling community with Unlimited IN calling.

Pretty impressive. Also, there was some other interestin' stuff:
ATT/Cingular wireless revenue: $10.0 billion
VZW wireless rev: $10.3 billion
ATT/Cing ARPU: $49.21
VZW ARPU: $50.73
ATT/Cing total churn: 1.7% (1.3% postpaid only)
VZW total churn: 1.08% (0.89% postpaid only)
And Verizon continues to have more postpaid customers than ATT/Cing too.
ATT does seem to be getting it together, but probably not in time to save #1, unless the 'iPhone effect' does really well for 'em.

It's just VZW doing even better but that should in no way take away from the improvements at&t has made in the last 2 years.
I agree that ATT/Cing is improving, but what peeps tend to forget is that the rest of the industry isn't sitting still either- Verizon has been a moving target, and is improving as well.
Which is why "ATT/Cing is doing fine, its just that VZW is doing even better" is something you tend to hear almost every quarter, and prolly will for a long time to come. 😎
You make it sound like it's only at&t and VZW in the national cellular service industry.

What about Sprint? Or T-Mobile? I'd say those two are standing still.
What about Alltel? They seem to be improving and doing quite well in this allegedly 'slow' market:
Alltel Sets Records for Wireless Revenues, Operating Income in First Quarter

Customer Additions Also Reach New Highs While Churn Falls to Record Lows
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 27, 2007--Alltel (NYSE: AT) produced double-digit revenue growth and strong customer additions in the first quarter. Alltel is still considered a Regional Carrier
You mean a 'regional' carrier with a frickin' huge network and over 10 million customers. They're also the fifth biggest carrier. Sorry, I think they still count. 😉
S'okay, Verizon and Alltel aren't slowing down, yet the market is 'slow'? Hm, somehow I ain't buyin' it.

nothing any cingular reps says matters
LOL, true dat. Sorry for being so rude gunny, I didn't say hi before.
Unfortunately though, it ain't just sales reps being tools, its also the system. "Sell x amount by the end of the month or your fired" is not an incentive for guys to keep it real.
That said, you do meet some good sales reps sometimes.
When my friend's 6256 broke, he went to the VZW store to get his old phone activated. The guy told him he could do it for 20 bucks, but that he should go home and do it online, 'cuz then it's free. Nice info, saved my bro some money.

I mean sure, Tex is cranky as ever, but I seem to remember peeps being a lot lot meaner when I first came here.
This place actually got civilized? Whoa. 😳

i was talking to the guys taht work for cingular yesterday and they laughed about the fact that we are cdma...they said that gsm will be the number network and that our phones will be obsolete..
They've been sayin' that for years now. Its something Cing reps say to make themselves feel better 'bout Verizon kicking their butts so often, prolly. File it under 'wishful thinkin'. 😁
Both CDMA and GSM will be replaced eventually by something better, and maybe by the same thing. I don't think anyone on either system has much to worry about, the transition isn't going to happen soon, and when it does happen, it won't be overnight.
I mean, weren't peeps predicting a few years ago that we'd a...
