how do the verizon stores expect you to decide on the phone you want when all they display are dummies???? you cant look at menus or anything... how stupid is that? yes i know it is cheaper to not have working phones, but come on!

The store I walked into had working phones.. i popped on the web on a few of them...
however, checking out a phone in a store is a heck of a lot different than the results you'll get when you start traveling with it.. using it around town.. etc.

If they DO offer a working model in the store.. it better work, or they'll all look like idiots and make no sales.

then out comes the goober and hotdogs minus buns.
not good.

Our larger stores, higher volume stores have actual live displays. Im at a slow store and we used to have them but they kept getting stolen so now we just have the dummies.

LOL. thats lovely. ya know, i have found a verizon quirk i dont like, and maybe its just my not knowing where to look.. but if you purchase downloadable items... there is no place to retrieve those items again if you get a new phone... its like money spent and lost.

Your completely right...the only thing is that with Get it Now, there are game that you can download on onje phone model that aren't available on a different phone model. But say you get a replacement phone you can redownload those same game and ring tones you had on the old phone and when your bill comes you can call Customer Care and they will credit back the charges. Hope that helps!

Just to clarify what replacement phone means. That if for some reason you have to replace the phone under the 1yr mfg. warranty then we in customer care would issue credits for the redownloads. If you choose to replace the phone as an upgrade, then the downloads would not be eligible for the credits...

Is there a way to retrieve the ringers you downloaded from GIN from your old phone to your new phone? Because I downloaded a lot of ringers from GIN on my VX10, and it would a pity if I spent all that $$ just to have it die with the phone...well that's just may take, but it would be really cool if I could 😎 πŸ™‚

unfortunately, at this time this no way to have the ringers transferred from one phone to the other phone, like you can do with your phone book. ☹️

i was just told yesterday... you still have to re-download all the things you purchase, however, if you've already purchased them once, you shouldnt be re-charged.. and if so you should be able to have the charges credited back to you.

i could be wrong.. thats just what i was told.

I think Get it Now has some new feature where you pay 1.99 a month and it retains all your phone info (games contacts and tones) to transfer from one phone to the other.

Would you mind enlightening me with the details of this feature? Does the 1.99 charge still apply after all the info is transferred from one phone the next?

Sorry it took a while to find - it's called Backup assistant but it's not quite as advanced as I thought. It creates a copy of your phone’s address book on a secure, password-protected web site. It's available on the following models:

LG 4400
LG 4500
LG 6000
Kyocera SE47
Kyocera 414
Kyocera 434
Kyocera 444
LG 4600
LG 7000

Apparently, additional handsets will have it available in the future.

Thanks for the enlightenment. Too bad my good 'ole VX10 isn't part of that list though. But it's ok, I didn't mind manually adding contact information to my new phone. In fact whenever a new phone comes to the house, they have me enter the phone book 😎

Corporate store can apply for those credits also. Look at the form in InfoManager, it specifically states Customer Care ***or*** Retail Store Rep.

Actually, it's cheaper not to have display phones STOLEN in areas that have high frequencies of theft.

(Hey, ask the store rep, even those dummy phones get stolen from the stores routinely).

Reps should be able to let you check out a phone before picking, also, you get the 15 day trial period to make sure you're happy with it.

Most Verizon corporate stores that I've been to do have working displays. For independant dealers, try to imagine how much money that would cost us... I am willing to pull a working phone out of the box for a customer, but leaving working phones out for people to play with and abuse unattended means that I'm simply out the money for that phone. πŸ˜‰

I guess that you've never seen a beer run then. Those phones are usually on those little cable things that you can pull out a foot or 2. If you pull hard enough, you can pull that phone right off the display, cable and all.

Very cheaply made.

Why is it ok for a dealer to not have a live model of a phone, but not for a VZW store. That is a totally ridiculous comment in my opinion. Why would you hold one store to a lesser standard than another. The potentila for theft is still htier, probably greater in a VZW store since it will probably deal with a much higher volume of customers.

Or what about the VZW store that has a working phone on display that they are out of stock on.. and not sure where else I could find it???

or even sillier... the phone that is a dummy display.. no longer being carried and no knowledge of where to get it. is it just a space holder but that display rack would get lonely with nothing on it?

I agree. If a phone is out of stock or not yet available, it shouldn't be on display.

BTW, the sales rep did in fact remove the phone from the display after it was determined that it couldn't be sold.

grab the box from the back, get the ESN, and GPS it. πŸ™‚ MUAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAAA!

It's really really really hard to steal a phone these days... much less an unactivated one without the box when the ESN is known. πŸ™‚

Yeah i know, But people who go in stores and steal phones are not smart enough to figuere that out. On a happier note we are developing a proximity mine for cell phone. Crook gets the phone to far from the store and BOOM! off with the hand. 😁 (I wish) Then everyone in the store could just point and laugh at the handless jack#$% in the parking lot!
