Alright guys luckily instead of me going over to T-Mobile to be on my dad's family plan he is going to turn my account here on Verizon into a family plan. So I am looking for which new phone I am going to get. I am deciding between the new black U740, the vx8700, and the MAXX ve.

I remember hearing that the chocolate (slider) allowed you to play music in the background while u could type texts or shuffle through menus. Does anyone know if any of the above phones allows this, if not do any other phones besides the chocolate (slider) have this capability?

I currently have the vx8100 and use it as like an iPod a lot and that feature seemed really cool as now every time I want to do something on my phone besides listen to music I had to s...

Maybe you need a Sony Ericsson phone. I can be listening to my music as I play games, send text messages, browse the internet. The only thing I can't do while listening to music is talk on the phone.... My W810i does all those tasks without even crashing or skipping a beat or my favorite songs...
Think differently, Think Sony Ericsson! 😈

sony ericsson phones come with everything (good quality headphones, memory cards, and USB cables) so you don't have to buy "additional music bundle accessories" to be able to use your phone as an MP3 player... If you like music capable phones, you would love a sony ericsson phone whether you decide to stay with T-Mobile or Cingular... (Sony Ericsson only makes GSM phones)

I was in a verizon store to find out some stuff on converting my account to a family plan and played with some of the phones. The black u740 is really nice and i really like the user interface on it and it looks good to watch movies and shows from the memory card in landscape mode but i dont know i just really like that you can minimize the music player on the chocolate to do other things. The touch controls sucked though. VX8700 had a really nice screen inside too and nice brushed aluminum but I just don't like that narrow external screen.

What you are looking for isnt a feature that Verizon phones are listed with. Your best bet is to go into the forum for the phone itself to hope someone that has it can answer.

The phone manufacturer has to make the phone with the ability to do that. I will try to play around with some of the phones to see if the new ones we have can have the player going in the background.
