Best Midrange VZW Phone? Samsung u540 vs Moto KRZR vs LG 8300 vs TBA

SystemShock

Just wanted some honest opinions. 😎

And I'm not so much interested in bells n' whistles but rather quality, i.e. stuff like the phone being solidly-built/durable, having good speakerphone clarity, good battery life, non-weird controls, etc.

I'm also considerin' the Moto V325, and Samsung a645 (that's a 'TBA' phone/isn't available yet).

I haven't used a Samsung that worked worth a damn, always sub-par reception!

I agree with you for the most part, but not the i730! It's extremely great for reception.

I don't know about the Samsung u540 on reception, but I've owned 2 Samsung phones: a650, which is now a backup phone, & my current phone, the a930, and both have been great on reception. I have to wait until this time next year (earliest) before I can upgrade at promotional pricing, as to what I'll get next. I got the a930 when it first came out, and that phone I believe is about to be discontinued soon (if it hasn't already).

I am starting to dig that phone a lot more too, now that I look at it. I think Samsung realized that their 850 from last year was midrange weak-sauce, and vowed to do better next time... and did.

'bout the only bad thing I hear about the u540 is battery life, and an x-ten batt should fix that right up, I'd think.

Got a chance to play with all the midrange contenders yesterday at the VZW Store, tho' only briefly.

The LG 8300 felt really solid and well-built, and I dig that, but it also felt surprisingly big and bulky, which I wasn't expectin'. I like to slip my phone into my jeans change pocket, so I don' know that the 8300 is a great 'fit' for me. I'd also worry 'bout accidentally hitting the external media player buttons or whatever that is on the front. An' I just didn't like the overall look/style of the phone in person for some reason... its kinda old school/mini-tank. It's prolly a good phone, but somethin' just puts me off it. 😕

I was pretty surprised by the Sammy u540. It's not a small phone either, but it is really slim and light, a...

Samsungs are really that bad? My friend's 530 was actually a really good phone, but that was back in the Jurassic era, before Sammy went internal antenna.

Does everyone else agree that current Samsungs aren't hittin' it? 😕

I agree with cellentor I recently bought the samsung u740 it went back do to poor RF. I think it is good advice as he stated to use the lg 8300, or G'zOne as a bench mark for call reception/ clarity.

That's the last fire I can put out I'm leaving for Hawaii tonight 😁 , cya everyone Peace Out
