Switched to America's Choice

And next thing I know. My phone has WORSE service than ever. I have an LG-VX4400. And at home, I used to have all bars with the Local Service. Now that I have switched to Am. Choice, I usually have one bar and am dropping calls.

Has anyone experienced this? I also had to upgrade the roaming on the phone via *228.

I'm looking to get a new phone in February. Here's hoping something cool and great comes out by then. The LG 6100 looks promising.

TIA.

What did you have before, a Verizon local plan? Is it the same phone that you had before?

Tower useage should be the same? I can't imagine why reception would change with a different plan?

Have you updated your prl recently? You need to dial *22891 on your phone at least every other month to retain good service levels.

They already wrote that they updated their PRL in their original message.

A new plan doesn't change the cell towers you pick up off of.

You want to check a couple things. First, the System Select, which would be Menu > System > Network > Select System

and make sure it is on Automatic B and NOT No Roaming.

If that's the case and you've done *228 to update your PRL recently, and the problem persists more than a few days (the amount of time it would take us to fix a cell tower in the area with degraded service) than most likely you have a problem with your equipment itself.

Strange though. It's amazing how it can change overnight with the changing of a plan and upgrading the roaming software stuff.

I hate all these cellphones, but since VZW is the ONLY one that I get service at my house, or the side of the city I'm in, I will stick to them. So far, no problems, just not a very strong signal. So if I move a bit from my original spot when I place the call, I get disconnected.

Thanks for trying to help me out everyone!

Actually, BECAUSE I did that, my service level is lower. Between switching and doing the *228 bit, I've got worse service. Go figure.

Yup, it's the same phone. Nothing new. All I did was switch plans, and then have to update the roaming software stuff and BAM, now I have very little signal in my house. Strange.

If you haven't already, call Verizon and tell them what happened. Maybe something happened by mistake at their end.

Does your phone work on analog? You might want your next phone to be tri-mode so it gets analog.

Good luck!
