Has anyone experienced any problems sending text messages to non-Verizon phones. I purchased the VX-7000 phone for my girlfriend and she is having problems sending TEXT messages to non-verizon phones.

Anytime she tries to send a message to a non-verizon phone the person doesn't get the message for a long time... usually hours later and sometimes the next day!!! Also, these messages never say "delivered" for the message status, but would say something like delivery unsuccessful.

She had the phone software upgraded to the "08" version, and nothing changed. Today we exchanged the phone for another VX-7000 and she still has the same problem. This really sucks because we both TEXT a lot to all our friends and each other.

She did change...

One of the biggest issues with sending Text to another carrier phone is this... VZW obviously has no control over the other carriers.

For example I can text any other VZW user and they receive the message nearly instantly. I text my bud on SprintPCS and he doesn't get the text messages. I text my aunt on her Cing prepaid and it goes through almost instantly.

I'm thinking its switchboxes. Another carrier doesn't have to be able to accept incoming text from someone. For example Cingular doesn't have to accept text incoming from T-mobile and vice versa.

So its not your phone or the VZW service. Its just the switchboxes. The information may come over corrupted, or is denied, or is translated wrong, or the box reads the mobile # address ...

OK, but I don't have any problems sending TEXT messages to same people and I also have VZW. I have a Samsung A670, so could the problem be with the LG VX7000???

Use the e-mail gateways... [email protected] [email protected] etc etc...

Yes, using the e-mail address it goes through right away, but that makes replying to messages a pain because you can't just hit reply.

I finally talked to somebody at Verizon who knew what was going on. I got a hold of one of the TXT/PIX/DATA service technical support people and they knew exactly what I was talking about. It seems they have some kind of problem or error in the network or system that causing problems with TEXT messaging, PIX messaging, and GET IT NOW services. I was told it is affecting the Michigan area and some surrounding areas in Indiana and other other places.

Oops... I accidentally hit submit before I finished.

Anyway, she said that she first received a internal letter about this situation over a week ago, and received another update this week. She said this it's a big issue and has become one of ...

Well, im sorry the Tech at your store didnt know anything about it either, But so you know, The techs at the store dont get any info like that. Only way for a tech at a store to find out would be to call Data support (like you did), and get lucky and talk to someone who read the bulletin and shares the information. 😁
