there is a annual upgrade program. You need to be on a 59.99 rate plan or higher to qualify.

The annual upgrade program is for lines 49.99 and higher, not 59.99. 59.99 was the old early upgrade program

Ok question about this: If I sign a 2 year contract today (May, 2007) with the $50 plan, after one year (May 200😎 I get to upgrade for the discounted price (but I think you would have to sign another 2 year contract). So my question is, when would the NE2 credit be available? Would it be available in May 2009 or May 2010?

If you take advantage of the annual upgrade it will reset your ne2 to 22 months from when you get the upgrade. The ne2 isn't that great anymore because your next ne2 is only going to be $50.00 not $100 (have to be on price plan of $79.99/higher), it's called the ne2 tiered. When it comes down to it, do you want to get a phone after a year to only worry about an additional $50 off? I could understand with the old NE2 policy, but not the new one.

The NE2 is 22 months from your last discount on a phone. You can change phones all you want, and anytime you do get any type of upgrade you do have to sign a new 2 year agreement.

dalily21, so if I understand you correctly, if I upgrade may 2007 with the 700 min plan ($60/month), then in 2009, my NE2 will only be $50?
But if I take a plan of $79.99+, it will instead be $100 in 2009?

Realistically, $50 isn't that much of a discount. So if I find a phone I like in 2008, I'm thinking that I should probably just upgrade in 2008 instead of waiting till 2009 to only get a $50 credit. Did I understand this correctly?

I'm somewhat surprised that VZW changed that discount.

yeah they changed the discount, but the added early upgrades..seemed like a good trade off to me and most people who use the ne2 are buying phones that are around the $100 mark and come with a $50 mail in reabte so they will be free anyway. I usually have people doing ne2 on razr,lg8300,mo325. None of those models are giving the customer full $100 off but he phones are stil free after rebate. I guess I just look at it as you are still getting an extra $50 off and that is not somethng they have to give, other carriers do not.

OK you make a good point. But one more question I had regarding the enV:
I will still get my NE2 credit for $100 for my current contract that is ending right? (I signed the contract in 2005)
Secondly, will the enV's price be dropped anytime soon? I thought I read another thread that said it was $99 on the testman site, but everywhere it says $199. Do you know if there is a price drop soon to come?
If it's better for me to wait a little while to get it, then I'll wait a bit longer. Or does VZW offer price matching within 30 days? Thanks!

shadowstar you are exactly correct in your first reply.

the ne2 policy changed in febuary of 2006 (i don't know the exact date), if you activated a new line of service, upgraded (ne2 or annual upgrade) this ne2 change will affect you.

price matching is within 30 days still per the WFG (worry free guarantee).

Hmmm, seems the primary line on all family plans would qualify then. The base family plan is $69.99 for the first 2 lines (making it $59.99 for the primary line).

Primary line is $60.00 and 2nd lines are $9.99. The new price plans that have the unl txt messaging will be good for customers to be able to get an annual upgrade. 450 mins and unl messages is $59.99 versus previous price plan would be $39.99 plus additional txt packages. The unlimited txt messages is built into the price plan cost

my bad, we don't have 49.99 rate plans anymore so I guess It slipped my mind. If you are on the old $50 primary you are eligible as well.

There's a $49.99 450 Minute Rate plan with push-to-talk. Not that many people have it but some will.

Also, I've seen some family plans with $49.99 primary lines here and there.
