If it was $25.99 unlimited, I might be subscribing to it. I can't afford the $45/month for data (or is it 59.99?)

If it was $20 I would consider it, just so I could have unlimited use whenever, but right now I use Quick2Net for free (the speed is no issue, it works fine for me).

or does the fine print state that unlimited is defined as 2000 total messages in a month after which a rate of .50cents a message will apply 😛

Well I would only hope that Verizon will get the picture with forums like these and more complaints from customers that there prices are out of line. Maybe just Maybe someday they will lower the cost for data. They would get a lot more sales if they did. I personally think that they would maek more money by lowering the price.

To answer your question about Sprint.

Sprint sucks and I think everyone will tell you that in this forum. The speed for sprint is like chipping out of stone no comparison to the speed with Verizon. I admit Sprints price is better.

1MB file download: 4.2 seconds

2nd test

Speed: 2.4 mbps
Communications: 2.4 mbps
Storage: 294.2 KBps
1MB file download: 3.5 seconds

3rd test

Speed: 2.6 mbps

Thats great but you must be right under a cell tower though. All carriers can get those kind of results if they have 3.5G. It just depends on close you are to the tower. Sprint's RevA and VZ's RevA are pretty much going to give you the same results where coverage is comparable. It all comes down to do you trust Sprint to be your provider or do you want VZ which has been proven fairly reliable in most areas.

Your right, it is a no brainer... hence why verizon is making money and gaining customers while sprint is losing money and losing customers.

May 8, 2007, 5:14 AM
Unlimited does mean unlimited. If you have unlimited nights and weekends you can talk from 9:01pm to 5:59am every day and no one will care.

The thing people complain about being called unlimited that isnt unlimited is the internet access. VZW says exactly what the service can be used for, and thus caps the ammount of data you can transfer on it, because the allowed uses dont have a way to use that much except under extreme cases.

If you are going to take a shot at a company, at least know what you are talking about 🙄

.. compaired to what company? 6 smartphones/PDAs and three blackberries all supporting "3G" data

Sprint has 5 and 2.. all with "3G"

Cingular has 7 and 3.. of those only three of the smartphones/pdas support "3G" and none of the blackberries.

So VZW has a larger selection than sprint and a larger selection of 3G devices than cingular..
What need do you have that one of the devices that VZW carries doesnt fill?

**I put 3g in quotes as EDGE and 1xRTT are 3g techs that most people dont consider as such, so the 3g is refering to EVDO and UTMS**

They have junk. The MDA is crap. The Dash is good but I'm just not a smartphone person, so same with the SDA. The Pearl is cool but the SureType is not as good as QWERTY (I type slower on SureType than T9 on a standard keypad) and you need Opera Mini because BB's default browser sucks.

Well if sprint had customers to use their network they might have to have restrictions on it as well.. but when they dont really have to worry about that, they dont need them ;)

and btw, you might want to look into information ahead of time before knocking a carrier you appear to know almost nothing about. VZW doesnt have any bluetooth restrictions on PDA/Smartphones, only on normal handsets. And those were only in place until it was shown that the bluetooth could be limited to not allow transfers of protected content... but then there are still people that complain about VZW not letting people steal ringtones and games.

correction btw...i had the verizon pda...and yes it did have restrictions in file sharing song sharing picture sharing..you name it..so unless you get a pirated software installed on your verizon pda. you will suffer of the same issues...with sprint...its all allowed...and to your ignorant first comment sprint has 53.7 mil subscribers...verizon 60.7 mill so your beating us by 7mil big whoop.

7 million customers is a LOT, actually. That's more customers than all of US Cellular (the #6 carrier) has, for instance.

The real problem though is that Sprint-Nextel customers are fleeing right and left. Sprint's churn rate is 2.3 percent. That means that about 1.2 million customers a MONTH are bailing on them, and 3.6 million customers a quarter are leaving. 😲

That does some very bad things to the company, costs- and reputation-wise. And its likely that their churn is going to continue be bad for awhile, too. ☚ī¸

its true..sprint really is doing bad...right now...especially with the lack of innovation in their upcoming product line...a lot of the users will be fleeing to att for the iphone or even to verizon for the samsung i760 and alledgely better service...but all this downpour...is a stepping stone while the wimax end comes up..and once wimax is up and running people will be lining up for the new wimax enabled phones and more affordable data plans.

Hopefully. But that's about two years away. Sprint-Nextel will prolly be 15+ million customers behind Verizon and ATT by then. They need to get their ship in order ASAP and not be waitin' and hopin' for the WiMax ship to sail in and save them.

I'm not certain, but I think Sprint's churn rate right now is almost as bad as the old ATT Wireless's was, right before it started imploding. đŸ˜ŗ

I don't think it's a lower selection so much as the options you have are just underwhelming. I'm not a BlackBerry fan, in fact, I actively hate them and can't provide an objective opinion- so discounting that, what do you have? Q, 6700, i730 and some Treos. All have their share of problems that tend to leave the user frustrated and slightly homicidal. I don't think it's Verizon centric, either. PDA/Smartphones on other carriers are just as much a pita.

That said, when you finally get a device that is stable and works, you like it alot. But the manufacturers could do better- a lot better.
