Verizon Wireless abandons Akon
Verizon Wireless has severed all ties from Akon after the dry humping video of him and a 15-year-old girl from Trinidad surfaced. Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds chimed in on Fox News that Akon should be prosecuted.
Verizon Wireless promoted Akon as one of the musicians on its mobile-phone music service, and said it would no longer sponsor the Gwen Stefani tour in which Akon, who recently performed on “American Idol,” is the opening act.
Akon would be smart to lay low for a while. Preferably in a community supportive of his unique marketing tactics. I hear jail is nice this time of year. There’s nothing better on a hot summer day than being confined between four slabs of cool concrete. Avoid the daily shankings and it’ll be a virtu...

What he did was ridiculous. We are now in the era of youtube and other video hosting sites, where anything can get posted online.
You just cant do this type of stuff anymore and get away with it.
He is music/lyrics are sub par and quite frankly, I hope he gets whatever punishment they chose to hand out.

Good. I can't stand him. He can't sing. I hate his songs.

What a joke.

I agree. We got instants of simulated sex on almost every channel. Dakato Fanning in interviews promoting "hound dog" where she (underage) has a sex scene with an adult 😲 "Everyone was soooo supportive and made me feel comfortable." Kinda reminds me of the when Brook Shields was young and played a teenage hooker back in the 80's. Nothing has changed. I think here we have an situation where a Preacher's Daughter got caught in a place where she shouldn't have been and becomes the victum. But who to blame.... Not the kid, not the Preacher. You got women's group/radio host crying out Verizon Wireless is Responsible!!!! So VZW pulls out on sponsoring the Gwen Stephani Tour where Akon is just the opening act. Then wonder why none of the women's...

Wow, I needed a cigarette after that...

The family of this girl is surprised this happened. I mean after all the Preacher DID send his 15 yr old to a concert where the artist makes money by saying "bend you over, look back and watch me smack that."
I am by no means condoning his actions, but seriously... I think they need to put age requirements on Concerts. Our younger crowd can't go to an R Rated movie without an adult or parent, and why? Because of the explicit content. Akon's music is labeled all over it PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT CONTENT. And on the other side of it all..... And she didn't look that frightened by it...because in the video, she's hanging on his neck, she's got a huge smile on her face and is enjoying every single second of the attention.
Good move ...
