Should be interesting...no ideas though. I think apple shouldn't have announced the iphone so early...gave other companies way to much time to engineer a copycat product

true..but in a marketing sense its genius..why not announce a product..get 6months of feedback...revise the product to the consumers liking for production...

interesting. now Apple is already a leading innovator in the cell phone industry with their first product! really....their marketing department deserves some really big Christmas hams.

wasn't the iPhone originally not even supposed to support 3G?

ok...i'm not being a total smarta$$ here, but what's the big deal about the iPhone that sets it apart from ALL other phones? it can't be the looks because that's already been done. is it the software? well....they are a software company. is it basically a mini MAC or what?

alright, i'm just giving Apple and all the Apple fanboys a hard time. i really don't care all that much about the iPhone hoopla. sounds like an iPod that makes calls.

Well yeah, it looks like they actually are. 🙂

but what's the big deal about the iPhone that sets it apart from ALL other phones?

Why not do some research and find out for yourself? First place to start:

Compare the success that Apple has with its products versus the success that Motorola has with phones. Even if this beats the features of the iPhone, it won't work well enough to be an iPhone killer.

hows that? the razer was a complete hit in the us markets..even when it had the 500 price tag, and it didnt even do 1/3 of what the iphone does at a similar price tag at that.

Fashion and functionality aren't necessarily the same thing. The iPhone has already captured the imagination of the market. If Motorola does something similar, it will be seen as a rip off, not original and fashionable like the RAZR was. So you have to take Motorola's manufacturing into account. Unless this device works exactly the way it's supposed to, it won't stand a chance against the iPhone. I can't remember a Motorola phone that didn't have mass produced problems (although we haven't been selling the SLVR so I can't comment on that).

true... but i dont think it will be looked upon as a rip off..becides..apple ripped off the LG KE850 prada phone..but it overshadowed it because it beat it in stats. now if moto can do the same..who knows...maybe they'll overshadow the iphone...moto has been known for inovative products just not in the US...remeber the motorola a1000 video phone? that was a hit.

I wouldn't say it overshadowed it because of stats. I would say it overshadowed it because the KE850 wasn't released in the US. The iPhone is the first of its kind to enter its market.

well thats true...and so was the razr and it was a hit...the q...well the q was bad...but...i dont know...this new elusive product might be what moto has been looking for to compete in the smartphone industry.

The Q was successful because of the price. I refuse to sell them, but I see a lot of them around. The only way this Motorola will be successful is if it works the way it's supposed to. Motorola is not very good at creating working phones.

some people apparantly forget America isn't exactly a leader in the cell phone market. Apple is capitalizing on a market slow to cell phone trends (count me in with that category). i remember reading articles about critics and users in Japan laughing at the remarks made by Steve Jobs about how the iPhone is reinventing the cell phone. Apple fanboys eat this stuff up though. i think the marketing for Apple deserves the most credit. it's been a major success for the company. very clever (even though they resort to amateurish slandering of their main competitor in commercials)

Apple ripped-off the LG Prada?? Uhh... nope. If you've read up on it, you know that the iPhone has been in development for over two years. It was also officially announced a few days BEFORE the Prada was:

Prada officially announced on January 18, 2007 - http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/readarticles. php?id=1739

iPhone officially announced on January 9, 2007 at Macworld - http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/01/09/macworld -announcements-real-time/

The Prada did hit the market earlier than the iPhone will (Prada released in March), but still, given the iPhone's two y...

From personal experience with PDAs and any device with a touch screen, I'm pretty sure I can identify the REAL iPhone killer:

Gravity. 😉

One good drop is all it takes to kill a touch screen, and with no physical buttons (read: dial pad) it's going to get pretty amusing to watch, I think.
