NON EVDO theatering help

wfine81

May 18, 2007, 2:51 PM
Trying to help a customer (325i) set up mobile office kit and and having massive problems connecting, tech support says they need the $59.99 broadband access feature on there, I keep telling them that the 325 doesnt support evdo and that feature is not needed, they insist it does. Anybody have any idea why it is not letting me connect?

It needs the $59.99 National Access Connect feature on the account. Most tech reps are retarded (not meaning any insensitivity to that, just stating lack of intelligence in general) and think the whole universe revolves around EVDO and Broadband. The 325 isn't EVDO compatible. A rep actually yelled at me the other day for selling a customer National Access on an aircard. They didn't understand my logic when I told them that the customer lives nowhere close to an EVDO coverage area, and since they didn't have VZW service already the additional $20 a month would have been a pure waste of the customers' money.

....Stupid Tech Support!

None that I know of, other than just choosing to connect on a day-to-day as needed basis.

When I called last week to get details on getting a mob office kit to use with my En-V this is what they told me. Whether going BB Connect or NA Connect. But they did let me know that in the event a mob office kit isn't available (sold out or whatever) that you can use the cord from the music essentials kit and just download the software for the computer from VZAM.NET. Great alternative, and makes a double use for a cord I already have! I woulda been pissed if I found out I spent $40 for the exact same cord, and software I can download online for free.

It kills me that most of those tech reps make more than I do, and I know more than they do......to think Minimum wage just keeps going up to pay these wack jobs for the piss poor jobs they keep doing. When will anyone learn!!!

A few months back VZW sent out letters to all customers using mobile office kits letting them know that they would no longer be able to use them with just airtime that they needed to sign up for a data package or be charged per kb.

In customer service we got several notices that these letters were being sent out, the only problem is in customer service we wernt advised what codes need to be on the customers account for it to work, as everything is based around tethering EVDO phones, and as you have seen tech support people have pretty much the same info.

I am sure somewhere, someone knows how it should work, but it is not a very well supported product ☚ī¸

I know when the national access feature code is on the account it works, I am...

the national access auto provision can be put on the account but there are warnings all over this they can be terminated from there service if caught using this feature for data service so that is the catch. that feature was only intended for help with pic msg and mobile web but it can also let you use the data side but since they came out with the 59.99 feature they still have it but with that waring tag on it. so you can choice to use this how you like.

Here is the thing out national access. When 1xrtt was launched VZW touted that you can purchasing a moblie office kit and tehter...only using minutes. The speeds were greatly increased from the quick 2 net (which were about 14.4k). The only thing you needed was an America's Choice calling plan. (back then you had local along with the America's choice) It was an included feature. In fact, national access is still an included feature on the plans. You need this feature for most data transfers.

I still have the documents where VZW touted this...and had people push this feature as something that set VZW apart. Now people are saying that you must subscribe to a plan. All the "plan" does is gives you unlimited use without using your minu...

sorry wfine but this changed almost 2 years ago. I asked this same question over a year ago. YOu have to pay for tethering even if you are not evdo capable. It is bs, but it is the policy. Now there are probably ways around it and verizon never really came out screaming this policy but that is why it is not working, they have really been cracking down on this crap and I just gave up on it months ago...I couldn't get a phone working on this after weeks of screwing with it. I beleive you can get around this on lg models byt getting into the manual programming and shanging some of the data settings but i don't know of any way on the 325

there is a difference between you setting them up and verizon stopping this function..I set them up past the stop date as well, but technically this service ended with the launch of evdo. they have slowly been working in restrictions to stop this feature on non evdo headsets without the tethering plan on the account.

đŸ¤Ŗ just because you can do it doesn't mean you should.. in fact i was trying to find the link where i was asking this same question about 6 months ago and there was a customer care talking about how they spent all wekend finding the people doing that, cancelling there service and billing them out 😲 Don't know how much i beleive that but yeah that is no no in verizon's eyes. But hell if i could get my phone to work on it without charge i probably would to đŸ¤Ŗ

...

May 23, 2007, 1:24 PM
indirect but our company is lodged firmly up verizon's back side, so business ethics could play here. I wouldn't even use it that much but it would be nice every now and then, especially when my raodrunner goes down. I personally think Verizon data pricing is rediculous, if they would ease up on that crap far more cusotmers would sign up for data. I have been told that whne they get done rolling out rev a they will loosen up on some of the data prices and restrictions since they will be able to better support it network wise.

The only time I use it is when my RR goes down, or when I take my laptop outside home, maybe 3 times a month, maybe 15 minutes each time, been doing it for sometime now, never heard a peep from vzw, give it a shot and see what happens.

wfine,

Yes you have to have that plan on the account for it to connect correctly. However, There is a free month to do that and you can do it in eroes. It is a data sale and you will get paid for it.

BBA Connect...the system knows which area you are in so it will connect correctly. DO NOT PUT IT UNDER NATIONAL ACCESS. You will not get paid for it.
