Verizon Wireless 3rd Quarter Results:

1.7 million net customer additions, an industry record for the second consecutive quarter; 42.1 million total customers; 23.0 percent growth in total revenues; company-record average revenue per customer; 22.5 percent operating income margin; churn (customer turnover) of 1.5 percent per month

Even Cingular and AT&T together can't pull those kind of numbers. VZW will have the market share by this time next year for sure!

also add #1 in customer care. however, as a cingular employee, what I am beginning to see is a new found loayalty to cingular. in washington state cingular is relatively new compared to verizon and its predecesor air touch. when you compare the old air touch to the old gte there was no comparison. air touch was the premier carrier out of the two. when cingular converted gte(cdma) to cingular there was littarly no coverage on the new gsm network. also up to 24 hour waits to replace old cdma phones with terrible gsm phones. this was a huge blow to cingulars reputation in the area, especially when they were new in the area. for two years now cingular has ranked #1 based on telephia studys for network quality however no one will believe it ...

So Verizon Wireless is only big in rural areas? I totally beg to differ! VZW has market share in a lot of major cities across the US! Look at 4 things.. customer base (year over year) net adds, churn and customer service. Who's topped all those year after year?

first of all i didnt say they are only big in rural areas, I said in washington that is the only area they have an advantage. if you have ever talked to anyone in customer care with cingular you would understand the higher churn rate. I also understand the historical figures of verizon compared to cingular, and at&t. what I am saying is be prepared for a change. the network is in place, still with plans of major additions. what is changing is public perception. all the hard work of the past few years is starting to pay off and the tide is beginning to shift

VZW has a 4 year head start on changing public perception! Sorry, you lose there too... ALso Verizon doesn't have much Rural coverage in Washington.. they roam off Inland Cellular(s) network in the rural areas of wa state.

obviously you are not familliar with north west washington. I agree verizon has a head start. but 5 years from now that is pointless, I dont dissagree that this year verizon will surpass cingulars numbers, maybee even next year. but start watching the margins between the two companies. drastic changes dont happen over night.

NW washington = Seattle lol.. i didn't think we were that rural!

but....

you're right drastic changes don't happen overnight... (millions of) customers will suffer and flock.. it happened when vzw bought all the small companies and made a larger powerful wireless company.

the areas I am talking about are north and northeast of everett, all the way up to mt. vernon. for the area everett-olympia check the telephia results. an independant 3rd party cingular has been number one in this area since early 2003 a huge jump from their start in 2001

Those are inarguably impressive numbers, as it looks like VZW's add rate is accelerating, while their churn rate is remaining both low and stable.

The conventional wisdom holds that if VZW (or any company) is adding new ...
