*228 feature, need help from Verizon rep or anyone who knows?

I ordered new LG6100 and was unable to *228 them because I am not in a Verizon tower area. I had to drive 30 miles to do *228.

Question: If I want updated roaming why shouldn't I be able to do *228 from anyplace I am. Verizon rep told me that no other tower wants to pay for a free airtime service so I needed to be by a Ver tower. Well that doesn't make sense to me since I am in an area that doesn't have a verizon tower nearby but "supposedly" they piggyback other towers. I don't want to *228 in an area that has just Verizon coverage, I want to *228 in my area to get better roaming options. Can anyone help?

only our towers have the OTA equioment inthem for our phones... you *228 off of at&t's tower it has absolutely no clue how to program it. The PRLs are proprietary information, and we don't let them out of our towers/switches.

thats correct... *228 is a VZW feature, and there would be no way to use a VZW feature on a Sprint tower
