International trip - need a suggestion

Hi all,

I will be taking a trip to the bahamas and I understand my vzw phone will not work there. What is the deal with global rentals? How does that work?

Any other suggestions?

You might want to check with a Verizon company store and rent from them a phone that WILL work in the Bahamas. I believe it is a GSM handset that will work there, and your charges will appear on your Verizon bill.

I went to St. Lucia a few years ago for the jazz festival, and a buddy of mine who joined me took his Verizon (then Bell Atlantic Mobile) phone with him. He used it, but he had to put down a refundable $500 deposit to access the service, and the airtime was not cheap. Things may have changed a little since 1998 in that regard, so the VZW company store would be your best bet, or you could contact the customer service department @ 1-800-922-0204 or 611 from your wireless phone for details.

It's Now $300 Deposit, $3.99 a day rental fee and $1.49 a min or more for calls. Per min rate can vary on country.
