Did anyone notice that they are FREE now? You got to love it when they 'roll-back' their prices.

That free RAZR is only for new subscribers, and not upgrading customers. The lowest I've seen Wal-mart sell a phone for VZW was $48.88 for new subscribers, & always $50 more for an upgrading subscriber. Regardless of cost, I'll never get a phone on contract at Wal-mart, or Best Buy. I'll stick with corporate.

They recently changed their upgrade pricing to match the new customer pricing. So the 2 year upgrade price is the same as if you were a new customer. So if you are upgrading you can get a Razor for free. And no mail in rebates to deal with...

Yeah...WalMart and their "roll back" (or non existance) service for their customers!

I don't care about wally world. I get someone that buys there...I send 'em right back for their "outstanding" service. Last customer walmart will see...

Get this, I had a customer come in checking out a 8300 on a new act, I pitched it to him for $39.99 after a $50 mail in.

The customer acutally said "ok, hang on, im going to go outside and call wal-mart and see what they were selling it for, he came back in and said "they are selling it cheaper, im going to go there" before I could say anthing he walked out the door, I just stood there with my jaw dropped thinging "what a prick", I called Walmart and asked what they were selling it for, they said $37.88.

the jerk off went somewhere else over $12!

he came back in the next day wanting me to show him how to send pix and hook up bluetooth, and I told him that I couldnt help him and he needed to go back to Walmart since he bought it from...

Ive done that before, but I have had my comission "reversed" because of "false churn" 🙄
...
crazyeaglefan236

Jun 13, 2007, 10:39 PM
That is not false churn though. My philosophy...if we treated customers like walmart does...we would have our dealerships pulled.

False churn is if we have someone out of contract cancel a line while we are adding a new one. I would argue that no false churn was done since VZW netted the same commission on a return to Walmart. I would also argue that this customer was just exercising their 30 worry free gaurantee and wanted a dealer that offered better customer care...

False churn is taking extra money from VZW for the same net customer...

BTW, Walmart sucks.

Well, that was the chargeback code and the explination I got from my rep.

But yes, I HATE walmart, almost as much as "online sales" I cant tell you how many times I pitched a phone to a customer and they come back in 3 days later wanting me to explain how to use it because they wanted the "instant rebate" of buying it online

I am telling you...charge the fees. Plain and simple. You are not VZW. Do you give anything away with the activation? I give a cla with all activation. I point out that VZW would charge 30 bucks for that cla.

I use this line, "Yeah, VZW tries to push sales online because that is their cheapest way of doing business. However Mr. Customer, wouldn't you rather do business with someone who is there to help you after the sale? Tell me something. If I can be competetive with their pricing and show you the value of doing business with me, will I be able to earn your business today?"

I know this is a tab bit wordy...but it works. And then be sure to thank them for "supporting the local business". I will bend over backwards for a cu...

Oh, and while you are asking them you need to be nodding your head up and down a bit. Believe me that works too.

The old addage in car sales. Ask yes questions (not yes and no) and after you get three yes answers then ask for the sale.

"Wow, isn't that a nice...smooth riding car?" (nod your head up and down) Customer: "Yeah."

(of course some questions need to be tailored to what you know that were hot buttons for the customer to begin with by doing some good investigative questions)

Example, "WOW...feel that V-8 Power! Geeze that has some real deep thoated sound in that exhaust. Isn't that really cool?" pencil neck tree hugging geek: "I suppose but I really wanted a zero emmission car that gets 40 mpg. That V-8 is killing...

I run into wally world crap all the time, I will match their prices, but I will only do that if they ar signing up for vcast and some other crap.

The thing that kills me is I have lost customers to Walmart just because of the rebate, I will match their price after rebate but some still will not buy...

I love it it when people i remember come in and there bill is jacked up or phone is messed up they baught from Walmart. I used to be nice but now I stick it to people and ask if that few bucks they saved was worth now they can't get help. I have also seen a lot of waranty issues around here where they cannot get their equipment fru'd because it came straight from manufacturer and not Verizon..Plus have you seen the boxes those razr's co...

To those of you selling phones, is this what it's like in your stores?

I had one customer in my store today that proudly proclaims that she buys online to save her time in the store! So I then asked what it was she needed...a phonebook transfer...so I proudly stated that I will wait on all that are giving me their business first, and then, when and if I got freed up, I would do that phonebook transfer for 10 bucks.

She left! Bye bye!

Same for WalMart shoppers. If they are so bent on saving a buck and not helping out the little guys do more for the American economy...the local economies...and more SERVICE end for the consumer...then so be it. Go to WalMart. Have fun. But I will not...absolutely refuse...to help those customers (without a fee for my services rendered).

"I just bought this a month ag...

I'm not trying to defend Walmart, but I understand why their customer service sucks. Their employees (at least the ones at the Walmart here) are not paid commission. They get their flat hourly rate of $7/hr or whatever so why does it matter if they piss people off? They don't get anything for activations or accessories or upgrades or anything. If I worked there, I probably wouldn't care much either. Activating a phone is the same as getting a game out of their locked case.

I feel sorry for the people who have to work there- they get paid crap, that's true. And its probably a pretty lousy job. But doesn't change the fact that Wal-mart, as a system, sucks. Its 110% about low price, meanwhi...

Or, if you live in a town like I do, there's just nowhere else to buy that stuff. Wal-Mart is the only place in town where you can buy guy's pants. If I need pants, I drive 45 miles to the next town. Small towns suck ass.

You make them sound like a government social program. They're not, they're a corporation who's out to make a profit like anyone else. But they have good PR people who constantly say that they're all about helping poor people.

If someone's really that bad off, then they should be taking government assistance, like food stamps and the government cheese. Meanwhile, there's other places to go and buy cheap stuff.

The working poor get paid jack and sheeite, and jack just left town. They shouldn't feel bad about getting any help they're entitled to, especially if they have kids. This is the legacy of not having raised the federal minimum wage in ten years (though they should finally be raising it soon).

And btw, you calling someone's logic 'retarded' is like George W. Bush calling someone inarticulate. Too funny. 😁

I try to never go to walmart, I live in a fairly large city and the walmarts around me are dirty, noisy, crowded and most do not speak english. I understand the niche they fill to the lower income and I have purchased a few things there but try to avoid them like as much as possible. I drive an extra 10 minutes to get to target, pay a little more but worth it.

I work in an indirect store, and we don't make commission. I get paid well hourly and get great benefits. Therefore, I have limited sympathy for Walmart employees. I get paid the same regardless of what my customers buy, which eliminates most of the shadiness you run into at some stores. But I still know how to help my customers, and I do it well. The real difference is that Walmart can't be bothered to properly train and compensate their employees, so the employees just don't care.
