incoming pic msg gone crazy!

For the last week, my husband and I have had weird things going on with incoming pic messages.
Two things are happening:
1. We get a text message with a blank picture box. OR
2. We get a txt message that prompts us to download the picture--then it EVENTUALLY retrieves the pic after about 4 tries.

This is something new, I've checked the settings on the incoming messages and it's set to automatic. Why after all this time is it doing this? Any ideas?

Actually, I've had that same problem with the text message - a text message with two blank picture boxes that says "thank you for using vErizon wireless." It's happened only after I've pressed #MIN to check minutes used.

Not sure what causes that though.

When it started, I thought it was just my sister's phone (new razor from Allhel) but yesterday, my mother in law sent me a pic and she's on Verizon like us--and on an LG phone. It took 4 tries to get the pic to download yesterday (she wound up sending it 3x's during the process of trying to figure it out). Today she sent another that just came up as a blank pic with the x in the corner. The other way pics come is it prompts you to download the pic--then gives you grief trying to get it then (takes about 4 tries)

The only thing I can think of is my sister is on another network and my m-i-l was on extended network out of town this week. But even then... it's never behaved this way before. My inlaws sent us pics from Kentucky a month ag...
