To VZW reps

Is it possible to port a number from VZW, to at&t, activate a new line and not pay a termination fee? Can a VZW rep, cs rep, or mgr waive his fee. If so, how would you rate his/her chances. 1-5 1 being the least, 5 being definite. Thanks.

This is only going to happen if you move to an area where at&t has service and Verizon Wireless does not.

If you're switching companies just for the sake of switching companies, I'd give your chances of getting the ETF waived a 0 out of 1-5.

If you're moving to a location where Verizon does not have coverage, you can get your ETF waived. I don't know of anywhere that AT&T has coverage that Verizon doesn't. That doesn't mean those places don't exist, but I can't recall reading any complaints like that.

I live in one of those places, my friend...Charlottesville-By-God, Virginia, home of the UVA Cavaliers and Monticello...oh, and a Cheeseburger In Paradise, too! But I digress...I had VZW out of DC for eight years without any major malfunction...just great service. I moved from northern Virginia to C-ville and kept the service until June 10th. When I moved here, I didn't know anyone locally, and there was no reason to get another provider when I got solid signal on Alltel and US Cellular towers here. Well, fast forward two and a half years later...still great service, but no VZW, and local folks need to reach me on my cell without a long distance charge. Verizon was wonderful about it...no ETF, because I couldn't use my phone here the wa...

When you were on VZW service, I'm pretty sure you were "roaming" on Alltel anyway...Is the level of coverage the same, better or worse not that you are Alltel direct?

Hmm...well reading other peoples answers I don't know.

I did this with verizon about 2 years ago. I ported my number to T-mobile, then had them reactivate the line with a new number and gave the phone to my brother. I did not get an ETF and I still have the Verizon line no problem. I would contact them and ask. I didn't have any problem. And on top of that when I reactivated the line and changed the number they gave me a new phone. I think I won that battle somehow. I think it's all on what rep you get. Some are lenient and don't really care. Some are gung ho and dont budge. Good luck. And please don't port, you will regret it. I've had all major cell phone companies and here I am with Verizon. More expensive? Yep but it's wo...

Don't waste your time on the iPhone. And if it's that important, what is another $100+ bucks when you're gonna spend $500 on the iPhone?

Thanks for looking out, but I will not use GSM at the time. I'm very satisfied with Sprint's CDMA network. I appreciate VZW's superior network and sleek phone selection, but it's the crippled sleek phone selection and BREW that keeps me away. Thanks for the VZW love though. Cheers. 😉
