Hey guys,

If I log into messenger on my Q, will that use my data plan aswell as my text plan? Or will it only use my text plan when receiving/sending messages?

Thanks,

Just you data plan, unless you mean IM forwarding on AIM, then it would use just your text messages.

Yeah, IM messenger. Thats all i want to use. I called 611 and they told me that it woudn't use my data plan. And it would only use my text message just like when I had my enV phone. (When I am signed into messenger)

So thats correct right?

Still confused, is it an IM program on the Q or are you forwarding IMs from your computer to your cell phone number?

Nope, just wanted to be logged on when away from my computer. And would like to see who's online when am at work and start chatting with them. Cause at work they have it blocked and can't even logged on with my personal laptop.

Hope that makes sense?

Thanks

Still can't help you since I don't know how you are using it.

Are you selecting the "Forward IMs to your cell phone" form AIM or Yahoo messenger on your Computer

-or-
are you logging in from a program on your Q, like IM+ or imov Messenger?

I can tell you now that IM forwarding works from SMS so each IM is counted as a text message, and IM programs on your Q are going to be using data from your data plan and not texts.

Ok, the one that i have on my Q is the pocket msn and from there I select the msn messenger. So this one would use data from my data plan? I believe this is the only one that the Q has. Is there another software out there that i can use like the IM forwarding and have then counted as text message?

Thanks, Wireless Buddy

Yes, Pocket MSN would use your data plan.

But on my Samsung i730, I have imov messenger installed, so I can IM using AIM as well. I don't think it's for smartphones though, only Pocket PCs. (touchscreens).

IM+ is available I think, but it's $30. imov is free.
