An excert from a June 23, 2007 NY Times article:

AT&T’s share of new monthly wireless subscribers has fallen steadily over the last year, notably since it purchased BellSouth and changed its wireless brand to AT&T from Cingular. In the second quarter of last year, 29.5 percent of new cellphone subscribers chose AT&T, but that figure was 25.8 percent in this year’s first quarter, Mr. Hodulik said.

At the end of the first quarter, AT&T had 62.2 million subscribers, slightly more than Verizon’s 61.5 million, said Jonathan Atkin, an analyst at RBC Capital Markets. But Verizon is catching up a little bit each quarter.

What else could verizon possibly say, of course they're gong to dog on the ATT network and try to downplay it . It's a joke that they're are saying that we have another pos chocolate that can compete, yeah right give it up.

Which is so 2004-2005 to do... 🙄 I think they don't know (or at least try to ignore) what is about to come....

OK, I agree that throwing the new chocolate in wasn't the smartest response. But I think the rest of the article sounds accurate. And no fears, Verizon will get something comparable down the road!

beat me if i am wrong, but dont most of the phones do what the iphone does?? only no web browser, and touch screen? so it would be fair to throw the new chocolate in there, because it does everything the iphone does and more, except the web browser. it just doesnt have the hype POS iphone has.
