Number Porting, Termination Fee (unique situation)

If I port my number to a different carrier, and then call verizon and say, “never mind I don’t want to leave verizon, reinstate my account with a new number,” would hey do it?

The reason I ask is I want to take my number with me to Cingular, but I want to keep my contract with verizon, just with a different number. I also want to avoid a early termination fee if at all possible.

Also I am the main line in a family plan. Will canceling my line do anything to the other lines?

Thanks,
Kinkade

You have to set up a account with att and activate it. Then try it out.
If you like it then port your number.
Once you port you number with out being issued or asking for a new one you are automatically terminating your service account.

Man you really made me stop and think on this one. I had to read it three time. I think I understand what you are asking.

OK, each phone number on you account has it own contract. So if you port out to another carrier you are ending your contract on that number and ETF's will apply if you are still under contract.

If the number you are porting out is the primary of the family plan then one of the other numbers must be made primary.

If you port out and then want to come back it is called a 'win back'. But in that case you would come back to Verizon with the same number you left with. I don't think there is a way to return to VZW and leave your number with At&T.

It sounds like you want to give your number to someone else...

You can reason with Customer Service. Every Carrier does this. What they do is do a new activation (credit check required) using the old phone and a new number. However, this might require a 1 year contract or a 2 year contract if you had more than a year left.
