Hi All,
Just looking for some guidance from the experts....I saw verizon now has their own mobile email program on GIN for the v3m and env. You can get alerts when new mail arrives. Is the phone constantly using airtime checking for messages? Also, is the new message alert charged as a text message?
Thanks for your help.

anyone have any idea??

I believe that is a part of the new premium plans being released on the 1st. I'm not sure about it by itself without the plan.

I know its a part of the new premium plans being released on the 1st. I don't know about without the plan. I doubt anyone really has any info yet.

There has to be someone who knows how this uses minutes, texts etc?
...
I believe that the new email plans do not count for minutes, but with the new bundling in the premium plans, a person would also have unlimited messaging, which would negate any worries of text charges.
on a pay-per-use basis, there may be text fees; most reps will be trained to push customers into the premium plans, however. Good luck!

I downloaded this just to try it out and the alerts are just like when you use instant messenger on a phone. It just comes up on the screen and says get it now message. And no it doesn't constantly use airtime checking for messages. In fact I just tested to see if it used any airtime when the get in now message pops up and it does not. It only uses airtime when you are checking your email by going into the app. As far as texts go I am not sure I can't find any info on that. My guess is that it does because when you change settings it says sending changes when you are done just like instant messengers do. Which do use texts.

Actually I have been checking my text usage in my account online and they have not increased with the alerts that I have been getting....I wonder if they really are charged as text?
...
Don't know, I really don't worry about it cause I have unilimited anyways.

That doesn't update but like once every 24 hours or so.

Ive been keeping track of my text messages and it still hasnt charged me for any of the alerts I recived from mobile email...

The QRG for mobile e-mail came out for VZW employees and indirect agents a couple days ago. I took another look at it and found no mention of text messaging charges, only airtime will using GIN was mentioned.

Well that is good news if its true...I just wish someone could confirm this...
Thanks!
