so I wanna replace my trusty audiovox(nee toshiba) cdm-9900 with a pda-phone so I cruised the verizon site this last week or so.

noticed this morning that the silver q is gone.

is it being discontinued? is a new model coming?

and now the rant.

I am the non-primary on a family share plan. I have had my current phone 3 years and would like to upgrade. if I were not a current VZW customer, I could get a moto q for ~$100-150, but because I am a current customer, they want $300.

jerks.

end rant...

The Silver Q sucks. You're better off without it.

what kind of math are you doing on the price? Something doesnt seem right. And im sure if you put up a little bit of a fuss they will lower the price. I've gotten some pretty good offers just by being persistent. You'd be surprised what a store manager can do for ya if he/she wants to.

As far as the gray Q...it looks like crap compared to the black one and I think its a little buggier as well.

Gunny was right...if you really want it that bad, get one off ebay or craigslist.

Very true. I've gotten my upgrade date moved up 3 weeks before. Sprint retentions is even better. My uncle called in bitching about his Samsung i600 and they gave him a free Motorola Q and one year of free unlimited data. He was still in contract by the way.

The pricing difference is because of the way PDA pricing just changed. You now have to be on one of the unlimited email plans to get the advanced data discount. You can no longer just add the $44.95 unlimited feature to an existing plan or to a family share plan and get the discount.

We had a spiff on the $44.95 unlimited feature that in turn allowed us to give the $100 discount on equipment. That spiff ended on June 30th just in time for the new plans to be released. I confirmed with AM and he said we would no longer be spiffed on the "feature".

I also just checked it out on verizonwireless.com. It looks like you only get the discount there when signing up for new service. They then make you take one of the new plans. I tried the upgrade option and it wouldn't give the extra $100 off, even with the new plan.

The silver Q was disconntinued awhile ago it just took a long time to sell out. The black Q was to replace the silver, hence why the silver was cheaper.

Oh, and as for the part about a new customer getting it cheaper... that is BS unless you are going to an indirect sales which VZW has no control over the pricing on.

New customers and current customers have the exact same pricing through VZW. The website is just a little messed up because I think it still hasnt been fixed to get the extra $100 discount for smart phones for upgrades, so you will have to go to a store or through phone sales/customer service.
