Correct. Unlocked phones can't be used under Verizon. That, and most phones will have disabled bluettoth file transfer.

Verizon: Crappy customer service, better reception in most {not all} areas.

at&t: Good reception {depending on the phone}, better customer service. Can used unlocked phones, rollover minutes.

I'll include more later, since I'm at work.

Rc71, take into consideration that chocolateman is an at&t employee so he will of course say they are better. I say stick with what works where you live..If your wife has had great luck with Verizon then you will as well. Plus if you get Verizon you will have the mobile to mobile calling and might be able to save a little money by sticking them on a family plan.

I used Verizon for a while. I have room ro talk. At&t is by no means perfect, but hasn't given me the headache that Verizon has.

maybe, but the grass is always greener on the other side, go knock on some wood..All the carriers customer service sux plain and simple but time and time again VZW has had a better overall rating while at&t comes in last or close again and again. Direct representation is turnover and Verizon has the lowest in the industry quarter after quarter. So I would say the norm is more on verizon's side. i don't think Verizon is perfect nor do i think at&t is god awful, but I wouldn't put At&T ahead of VZw in csutomer service..no way

Jul 5, 2007, 3:25 PM
you have to be joking right! I can hit *611 send and enter my number, then if i want someone i hit 0, then 0, I can get a rep on the phone in less than 30 seconds start to finish, most the time faster and they all speak perfect english. I have actually closed sales by showing customers that before as they stood there in shock that i got someone that easy and that fast, no other carrier can do that.. the speed and english, just not happening. I laugh at Sprint it takes about 5 minutes to get soemone and then their english is subpar at best..Got to love outsourcing

obviously it is everything else they do better than any other carrier when you look at our turnover % on customers every quarter. They wouldn't be the lowest in the industry if they were not doing things better in that area than any other carrier.

Are you telling me that every Verizon rep is friendly and helpful?
...
yeahright

Jul 6, 2007, 8:23 AM
nope, but on avererage they will be better than other carriers, even you new found love AT&T, I am not saying they are perfect but most have better luck here, as I said turnover is a direct representation of that. At&T is always rated at the bottom when it comes to customer service and their turnover is much higher so on a national level i think that would be a good point that on average Verizon cusotmer care does a much better job.

I know you work for At&t now so you must say they are the best and you yourself have had bad luck with Verizon in the past, but numbers don't lie

Jul 5, 2007, 4:04 PM
not really what i was pointing out, jsut that they usually will swap you, the ugly thing about this is it can happen with any carrier, yes Verizon has swapped many issues like this for customers, and I am sure AT&T has as well, but this could happen with any carrier, now if you at&t phone starts havinga bunch of issues like your vzw palm we will see what happens. Hopefully they take care of you, but good chance you go through the same crap, As I said earlier, custoemr service in general for all carriers blows, one of the lowest rated industries in america, but i stand behind verizon as being the best of the worste as a whole...but everyone will have different experience.

At&t has a two-strike policy. After two exchanges, you can request for a new handset and they'll give you a comprable make and model. Too bad Verizon didn't do that.
...

Jul 6, 2007, 8:47 AM
yes because I am sure they would have kept you as a customer seeing how you now work for At&T, but As I said you might have got screwed but they are obviously doing something right while at&t seems to keep pissing people off and loosing more customers? You might have got screwed over, but the vast majority of people have better luck at VZW. I never said you were not treated wrongly, but your issue is just that..yours. the large scale studies say that is not the norm. But like I said in the end it would not have mattered, because if they did take care of you would you have kept the service anyway? Plus everything you now post in here as a VZW customer comes up to question seeing as you work for the competition.

Not saying you have no right to speak, just makes me question some of your gripes against Verizon since not long ago you were a huge Verizon fan and not so much a At&t advocate, to the untrained eye it could seem they hired you and you jumped on the bandwagon.

I used to carry at&t, I had many issues, i also have friends and family on tmobile and sprint that are counting the days to come to verizon because of customer service issues, but I don't hang out in those forums trying to talk people out of trying them for themselves.

I do not treat you like sprint74 : 🤣 I aknowledge you, i try my best just to ignore him! I am not dogging on you anyway, just stating that user experience will vary, i aknowledge the fact that you got screwed, but that is not the normal practice and many cusotmer care reps are in these forums which would agree. You just jumped the fence and I wonder if your view would be the same if you would not have taken a job with them?

You should definately give it a whirl. The test drive policy is great, it allows you to try out the phone for 30 days and if you don't like it just port your number elsewhere. Chocoman sounds a little funny. Anyone who has a phone that is defective 4 times and didn't get a new one must be altering something they shouldn't be. Anyhow, Verizon's customer service is top notch. Rated #1 by J.D. Power and every company should pro-rate the ETF's. They also let you upgrade early now too! Try it out. Cell phones are like shoes, they come in all different sizes in order to fit the people that wear them.

After the 4th one, they were going to give me a different one. Then they cancelled the order without notification claiming that I was past due. I was past due because they overcharged me, then later credited me. I told the rep that I was overcharged improperly and had him do research. He came back and said that I was correct, but that I'm still getting another Treo 700w. What kind of crap is that?!

Probably because you never should have been offered the new device. Chances are it didnt make it past the reps manager.

Sorry, but giving out $500+ phones to customers shouldnt be expected.

As for the "overcharge" that later got credited leads me to think there was something else going on that you are leaving out of the story.

Keep in mind that repeat callers have their accounts reveiewed and when people are doing stuff that appears abusive of VZW policies your account can get flaged to prevent stuff like reps sending out free new phones for warranty issues. I have run into plenty of account with remarks from special departments noting the accounts for such things as no longer following the standard policy for warranties to issue n...

Your an idiot to J.D. Power and associates rated T_mobile as number one in customer service in all six Market areas in the U.S with Verizon Wireless tying for one of these spots. servcie is al relative to where you live and use the phone, if Verizon is working out great for your wife and you are having issues, then it sounds liek Verizon is the better choice for you. YOu will get all kinds of answers in here but i personally beleive you will have better coverage, better cusotmer service with Verizon in general, but like i said it varies from everyone. As far as phones go what were you looking for, Verizon has a good selection out right now.

Please ignore Chocolateman, I dont know what his problem is but he developed a hatred for VZW.. probably after he stoped getting what he wanted from customer service. If you look at his posting history he has posted about repeated calls to customer service, using several differnt model phones including two pocket PCs.

VZW doesnt cancel customer accounts for repeat calls like sprint does, but those accounts do get watched.

As for considering changing to VZW, that is why the test drive was made. If you port your number to VZW you can try it out for up to 30 days, if you dont like it just port back to AT&T and you pay nothing except "usage charges" which are things like text messages, downloads, 411 calls and the such.

As far as customer service it all depends. I work for Verizon but I will give you an honest opinion. I have customers who have had nothing but the best things to say about CS. I have other customers who don't think highly of CS reps. With any company you have bad apples. So yes Verizon and AT&T have CS reps who dont know what they are talking about. This is nothing new. If you switch to Verizon you have 30 days to see if you like us. If you do great. If you don't, no harm done go back to AT&T. 🙂
