8550 slide issues?
just wondering... I opened my first one in the store a few days back, and not 10 minutes after powering it on and admiring the slide, I found that the slide wasn't exactly closing nicely. a quick look showed me that one of the springs within the slide mechanism had released itself, and the next time the phone was closed, it snapped half of the support of the slide mechanism. the other side came off quite easily, and I am kinda leery of selling this phone if the slide is that flimsy. anyone else notice this?

already posted in another thread but no response yet:
will manufacturer warranty cover a slider that gets loose after a while? could they at least replace the phone with a refurb?
maybe i need to rethink this whole slider phone option if this is going to likely be an inevitable problem (getting it fixed or getting a refurb i mean).

I have the 8550 and I don't have any problem with the slider function.
It like "slides" have way and then it snaps closed or snaps open.
When the slider is open and if you look between the top and bottom parts i can see the springs, but they seem to be fine.
I really think I'm going to get a different phone though.

I was having problems with the videos playing back- the phone would freeze, the screen would pixelate, and the phone shut off.
However, I think its fine.... I'm going to start a new thread to explain why.....

Actually we did get an email that some of the new chocolates were sent out with defective slides. Those were coming completely apart though and hanging by the ribbon. The ones I've seen though have been fine.
